Bandai S.H. Figuarts Iron Man 2 Mark VI Hall of Armor

Bandai is killing it with the Iron Man Hall of Armors. Each one is beautifully crafted and a ton of fun to play with. The Mark 6 from Iron Man 2 is a new release, a remake of an earlier release, and Bandai kills it again.

The Mark VI was one of the first Bandai S.H. Figuarts releases from years ago — you know, 2013 (seriously??), and it was an okay figure at the time. It wasn’t perfect. It had its flaws and did not hold up over time, especially as Bandai started getting its groove with Marvel characters. The Mark 6 was in definite need of a redo. And we got one.

My son and I are at odds over this figure. Out of the box, my son was disappointed and felt that the figure was more of a re-release and less of a redo. But I can confirm that this figure is probably a 100 percent new sculpt. Or at least a heavily modified sculpt of the original. There are too many changes that it feels like a whole new sculpt. But he swears up and down something is off.

He might be onto something, there is something off, maybe a slight short or maybe the sculpt is off. Or maybe he is looking for fault because he was expecting more. I wasn’t, to be honest. I think that this figure lives up to my expectations and, as I mentioned, it feel 100 percent new.

While I’m not a huge fan of the Mark VI, I prefer the Mark IV’s round chest piece as opposed to the triangle, I do like this armor over many of the current armors. It still screams Iron Man with the large amounts of yellow on the arms and legs. It also has an armor feel to it, as some of the newer armors start to have second skin look to them. Not the Mark VI, much like my favorite armor of the bunch, the Mark III, this is a very iconic look for Iron Man.

The articulation hasn’t changed too much. Actually, there is no change from the original and subsequent releases. This figure is chock full of posing potential, with the exception the abs. There is plastic cover over the abs that prevent a full crouch, or maybe I haven’t figured it out yet.

As with any S.H. Figures Iron Man, you get the usual hands and repulsor blasts. But this time around, the best part is the Hall of Armor. You could buy the Hall of Armor on its own, but you can also get the set. And I got the set. I have no idea if I will collect more than one, but these are cool playsets. They light up and the armors fit perfectly in them. They can connect and the walls are set at an angle allowing them to curve around the base that came with the S.H. Figuarts Tony Stark.

I’m gonna say for the cost conscience collector this figure is definitely a skipper. It’s incredibly expensive for the average collector. But for the collector that wants to collect a Hot Toys-style 6-inch action figure, this is the set for them. You can pick him up today here:
