Hasbro: Marvel Legends Celebrating 85 Years of Marvel Fanstream Recap and Thoughts

The Marvel Legends hits keep coming with another fanstream this morning showing off a gaggle of upcoming figures in the Marvel 85th Anniversary celebration line up.

First of the new reveals is Astonishing X-Men Wolverine. Well, sort of. He definitely has the costume details and the alternate head has very Cassaday styling but I don’t remember the yellow squares on the gloves and boots. They look sculpted so that might not be an easy fix too. It’s a shame because it looks damn nice with the other two Astonishing figures.

Wolverine is a standard $24.99 release and will be up 4/16 at 1PM EST.

Warbird will be a Target exclusive and looks like she’s got the improved mid-torso articulation with a rocker upper and hinged lower. She looks a little on the small side for my mind’s eye picture of this Carol Danvers, but that might be the Frank Cho of it all throwing me off. I am glad to see more new figures with the updated articulation and the head options are nice. She’ll go up at a later date.

Superior Spider-Man looks like a big improvement on that original release which, despite any inaccuracies, was one of my favorite Spidey sculpts at the time. This one has a regular swivel waist but hinged toes, so he’s a bit more articulated, but the waldos make it even more so. I like that they went with the even creepier webbing style on the costume detail too. I’m kind of surprised he’s go up for the regular 24.99 price with those extra arms (editor’s note, we received a press release after publication that indicates this will be $29.99)(new edit, I just ordered it for 24.99 from Amazon). Spidey also goes up at general retailers tomorrow 4/16 at 1PM ET.

There will also be a Skaar. I don’t personally care for Skaar, but I do like his emo hair. He’ll be a fan-channel release and $39.99.

A personal highlight for me is the Heroes for Hire Two-Pack of Luke Cage and Iron Fist. I’ve been wanting a classic Iron Fist re-do for a while and this one looks to include updated articulation and nice collection of extra hands. The modern Cage and Classic Rand seems a little incongruous together, but I’ve got a modern Danny and Classic Cage to match up with each so this works for me as an opener. The set is $49.99 and will go up 4/23 as a general release.

Finally, they saved the best for last with this amazing Danny Ketch Ghostrider. I’m not even that big of a Ketch Ghostrider fan, but the motorcycle looks excellent and I especially love the kickstand flame effect. I can’t imagine posing it any other way on the shelf, though the Akira slide also looks damn cool. This will be $99.99 which feels a little steep for a figure and bike set, but I don’t care. I’m getting it (editor’s note, we received a press release after publication that indicates the price will be $49.99). The pre-order will be up 4/30 at 1 PM ET at pulse and additional major retailers.

There’s also a little tease for a future figure. It looks like a solid hunk of plastic in the shape of maybe a piece of street that was ripped out of the ground. Nothing pops to mind for me other than that seems like something the Hulk would use as a weapon. Better than CRUSHED PIPE! I suppose. Well, this was another expensive looking showing for me, I think I’m all in outside of Skaar. Whatcha getting?

  1. Good thing Warbird is for shit. Thats the Black Widow body and the no hips, no ass, tiny tits toy they made does not work for Carol at ALL. And since its a Target exclusive we all can just forget about e er aquiring one anyway.

  2. Like a lot of other people, I’ve been waiting for an updated Danny Ketch! I rarely pre-order stuff anymore in hopes of landing it for a discount, but this I will pre-order. I was long out of comics so the Astonishing Wolverine doesn’t do anything for me. That Ms. Marvel update looks cool, maybe if she’s on discount. Don’t care about the Spider Man or Skar. I will give it to them, his sculpt looks pretty cool. On the fence for the Iron Fist. Really wish they’d saved the vintage Luke Cage version for this box set. That would have been an instant pick up. All in all, not bad. My wallet has been happy as of late with most of these reveals that I won’t be getting.

Don’t know what the rock prop refers to, but hopefully Lil Dan gushing about more Wolverines in the not too distant future means there’s a chance at Albert the android Wolverine popping up. Hopefully…

  3. If you’re thinking about the Superior Spider-Man you might want to preorder it. Sold out on Amazon in like 6 minutes. I had it in my cart about to check out and -poof-

    Ordered it on pulse instead.

That ghost rider will do gangbusters too.

  4. I’m probably talking myself into all of these except carol and Skaar. I like my previous carol fine. Not a Hulk guy. But I’m gonna have to copy that Akira slide with the Ghost Rider!

  5. Dangit, Carol looks the best to me, but Target’s exclusive have been awful for a while now; they just keep rescheduling release dates until I miss a confirmation so they can cancel it on me. Overall a nice looking set of reveals for ML, but I’m pretty tapped on Wolverine and Spider-Man figures (Like Batman in DC). Heroes for Hire look great, but I think I’ll opt out of any pre-sales this time.

  6. Finally!!! The Danny Ketch Ghost Rider I’ve ween waiting for!!! That’s probably all I’ll get, though.
