Storm Collectibles: Mortal Kombat Sub-Zero Video and Quick Pics

What do you do when you’ve created an amazing action figure with excellent sculpting and fantastic articulation, while also having the rights to produce toys from a property that has a character who is a color swap of several other characters? You reuse that body. And in the case of the Storm Collectibles Mortal Kombat Sub-Zero there is absolutely nothing wrong with that.

If you go back to my review of Scorpion you’ll see just how surprisingly happy I am with that figure. And I say surprisingly only because I wasn’t really asking for a Mortal Kombat line. Sure, I know what Mortal Kombat is but I was never a junkie for it. Not like my buddy Phil, who over the course of a few years broke several Playstation controllers because of fighting games. Thrown at floors, through sheet rock, and once he just snapped one in half. That’s probably another reason I never got heavy into those games, I’m a smack talker and with frustration levels already running high I didn’t want to push it even further. I dislike physical pain.

Anyway…

Like I said, I loved the Scorpion, so I already knew I’d like the Sub-Zero. More, even, because I like blue better than yellow, so it was a no-brainer. But I also like his accessories a little better. Now, are we going to get more of the ninjas? I have a feeling we will, we just gotta.

Sub-Zero is up for pre-order on BigBadToyStore right now!

  1. this guy is 7″ ? i have a lot of figmas and SHFs,i really want both of them, but i don’t know if both of them will fit in my collection

  2. This company has started doing Street Fighter too, correct? A Ken/Ryu vs Scorpion/Sub Zero display would be pretty rad.

They can keep reusing the ninja body to make Reptile, Ermac, Rain, even Smoke and Noob.

And on he SF shoto side could grow to have Dan, Akuma, Sean (yeah right)…I guess they would be outnumbered.

  3. Looks really good, but I already have figures of both SubZero and Scorpion. If/When they release the Goro figure they showed off, I’ll be all over that and any other characters not released in other toy lines already

  4. True, but I just prefer different designs instead of repaints. And I actually loved Scorpions design in MK9

  5. Oh man what a figure. It’s one of those figures where you find yourself studying boxing pictures for reference when you pose it.

  6. Honestly, if characters being repaints of each other means we get more figures, I’m honestly all for it, considering it’s accurate to the games.

  7. Storm Collectibles is easily becoming one of my favorite companies. I hope they do the MK9 looks because while original MK is great, I don’t like that each character is just a repaint

  8. Really glad to see Sub Zero lives up to the expectations set by Scorpion. The real test is going to be when they do something that doesn’t use this body. So my big want next would probably be Johnny Cage. I’d definitely think they should round out most of the 1/2 cast before moving beyond that.
