At this point I’m a huge fan of S.H. Figuarts. I haven’t been for very long though. It seems only yesterday that I received SHF Jedi Luke and absolutely fell in love with the line. Maybe too much, overlooking discrepancies here and there. Add that to my recently reacquired passion for professional wrestling and Bandai’s WWE line should be right up my alley. Unfortunately, I don’t think it is. At least when it comes to Triple H.
I will admit that I’ve already pre-ordered The Rock and Stone Cold Steve Austin, but I will admit that the bodies aren’t the greatest representations of the wrestlers. That or I can’t help picturing Duane Johnson as the overwhelming mass of muscle he is today. I know he was less defined back in the Attitude era, that’s why I’m giving the figures a pass. It helps that they comes with some awesome extra heads. Yeah, full heads, as these pics that started floating the net today have revealed.
Given the hairstyles of “The People’s Champ” and “The Texas Rattlesnake”, interchangeable faces are an impossible option. Really, they have no hair to hide the seam lines. But with “The Cerebral Assassin” there is plenty of hair so will he have full-on interchangeable heads. And will the finished product’s faces look better than they do at this moment? Take the first pic…
Looks pretty good. Angry. It has more than a passing resemblance to Paul Levesque. The body could be a little bigger, like after returning from the quad tear, but I can again overlook that. The body is still muscular. The other two heads though…
Granted, that isn’t the greatest of angles, but why does it look so flat? And weird? But this…
What in the hell? I don’t want a Triple H that is stupidly grinning like he just had a house loan approved and can’t wait to tell Steph! I want the badass that would turn on even his friends to get ahead! Not even during his goofiest antics with Degeneration X did he look this silly. Triple H should always, ALWAYS look like an asshole. Even while smiling. Or even better, smirking.
That said, I also don’t like the hairline. It almost seems like the faces are separate pieces and they have been applied wrong, sitting in front of the hair instead of back and under it. Hard to explain but you can see what I mean.
The only info to go out with the pics is that the figure is due out March 2017. I’m going to have to see more images or something though. At this point I don’t think I’m going to be playing “The Game.”
