Medicom continues on tempting us with awesome looking figures. The MAFEX Clone Trooper and Sandtrooper both look great!
I talked a little about how I am leery of future MAFEX product earlier in the Harley Quinn article. I’ve just had more bad figures than good so far but I keep giving them a chance. This is on top of constant delays. The ESB Boba Fett was due a couple of months ago and it still hasn’t been released. One would think it would be to tweak quality, get it up to snuff, but the C-3PO and R2-D2 set had delays too and it really didn’t help.
But these are troopers, maybe something will be different. I actually have a MAFEX Stormtrooper that I haven’t opened so I guess that would be a good indicator. If I could find it…
The MAFEX Phase 1 and Phase 2 Clone Trooper is actually a single release that comes with both heads. We saw this with the Bandai model kit and I prefer it this way. It gives you options and it’s less likely to sell more of one over the other.
Like I said above, this looks great. I even prefer it over the Figuarts version. Especially at 160 mm, or 6.2 inches. A better size for the overall display as opposed to the smaller size of the Bandai troopers.
The Clone has a tentative date of July 2017 and will cost about $55.
And as a surprise, Medicom also announced a classic Sandtrooper.
I mentioned above that there is already a MAFEX Stormtrooper so a dirty version is a no-brainer. All the companies do it. If it’s not a Sandtrooper then it’s a Shadow Stormtrooper. And I eat it up every time. I can’t help myself.
The Sandtrooper will run about $55 like the rest but releases a month earlier in June 2017.
What to do, what to do. One side of me says that if these do fall apart then they would look awesome in battle photos, parts blown off and such. Then the other side of me uppercuts that side and reminds it of how much these cost even before overseas shipping.
