After so much pain, I believe I have finally discovered the secret to happiness. I want to share my discovery with the world, as I believe it will benefit us all.
You take everything in your life: every thought, every emotion, all your experience, good and bad, black and white, all of it. Take all of that, and empty yourself of it, until you are a shell.
And then, find someplace dark to store it. It must be a place where it can never be hurt, but also where it can never hurt you.
Somewhere you can be free from it all.
But the trick is—and this is the most important part—the trick is that you must keep it with you, at all times. Because it is you. It is your essence. No matter how much you may wish to leave it behind…
…you will never be able to. So it’is best to not allow it to touch you. Unfortunately, this will not come without a price. But, that is true of all things: there is a cost.
And there will always be those who will seek to take advantage of you, who will only wish to hurt you, to destroy you if they can.
The world is full of predators waiting to pounce. But, if you’ve locked everything away, how can they hurt you? All of your memories, your hopes, your fears, the death, the loss…it is all so far away.
They can try to hurt you, yes, but…do you truly feel pain anymore?
Of course, there will come a time when you will need a part of yourself that you have hidden away. No man can be an empty husk forever. Sometimes, that part must be freed.
Fortunately, you know where it can be found. You have kept it with you. You did not throw it away.
You were smart. You can choose exactly how much of yourself you want. You can take the positive and leave the negative.
That is the secret to happiness, my friends: leaving all of the negative locked away.
Others let all that baggage cloud their minds, their body, ruin their souls. But not you. You’re like me now. We are different. We are better.
With this knowledge, one man can easily beat three.
