Bandai: S.H. Figuarts GotG2 Star-Lord and Dark Knight Joker Magazine Scans

Ah, Facebook. Always providing juicy pics from unknown sources. Today there are magazine scans flying about showing more details on the upcoming S.H. Figuarts Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 Star-Lord, Rocket, and Groot, along with The Dark Knight Joker.

First up, Joker.

I’m still on the fence here. I love this version of Joker and I have the Figuarts TDK Batman on pre-order, but there is something off here. The paint? The proportions? The sculpt of the face? It all just doesn’t come across as Ledger. Except maybe that pic in the bottom left corner.

We’ve seen promotional teasers but the scan clarifies some things. Rocket launcher. Knife, Machine gun. Playing card. And most of all, three heads. Tamashii Nations continues the trend of adding alternate heads that aren’t as different as you would think. The slight smirk and the slight smile heads are so close that it’s hard to tell the difference. And then the teeth showing smile is weird, not really fitting the character. I mean, it does, but wouldn’t a full on open mouth laugh had been better? Or a scowl?

I’m guessing the 6 means it will go up for pre-order in June with a September release date. The price seems to be blurred.

Then there is Star-Lord and Rocket.

Oh man, that unmasked Quill sculpt…

The Star-Lord pics don’t reveal much we didn’t already know. Alternate masked head, elemental guns, natural charm and badassedness.

It’s the Rocket and Groot pics that tell us more. Rocket comes with three different heads. Neutral, yelling, and smiling. He also comes with two guns and what looks to be some nice articulation. Look at the crossed arm pose. Pretty sweet. And then there is apparently a couple of pack-in Groots. One in Ravager uniform, one in his natural state. And then on top of that there seems to be multiple heads. I like the added value of the additional parts and pieces.

What’s weird is that the page splits Star-Lord and Rocket into separate releases. They look to go up for pre-order and then release at the same times but Quill is listed as 6264 yen and then Rocket at 3780 yen. We assumed it was all a single release. But I’m sure we’ll soon find out.
