Top Five: Most Wanted HeroCross Disney

This is because a comprehensive, collector-grade Disney action figure line is something I want very badly.

Can you believe that there has never really been collector line for Disney? It really boggles my mind that this does not exist because I want it a lot, but I also think it would be really popular. There are so many iconic characters that would make great toys, and for the longest time it felt like a large void in my collection.

However, HeroCross has been quietly releasing takes on some of these characters for a while now via their Hybrid Metal Figuration line. I was actually able to avoid dipping my toe in that line for a long time, despite Ibentmyman-things best efforts to convince me otherwise. I will admit, I got really close to buying the Donald Duck figure at Comic Con a few years ago, but, for some reason, the metal parts were a bit of a sticking point for me.

I am not really sure why, either, because benty and I are certainly in like minds to get that Disney line, and this seemed to be a start, but it has also been a bit all over the place. However, when it was announced that three of my absolute favorite Disney characters, Huey, Dewey, and Louie, were announced for the line, I could resist no longer, so I pre-ordered them from BBTS and I have gone back and paid out the nose for the iconic Mickey, Minnie, and Donald figures, with Pooh on the way as well. I am so glad I did too because, while these are expensive figures, they are really, really well done. There is not as much metal in the figures as I thought (it is mostly in the limbs), and while Mickey’s likeness is a little off-model, Donald is pretty damned perfect. Plus, it looks the HeroCross might finally be putting the pedal down and increasing the frequency of release of the classic Disney bunch.

In fact, their display showed off ANOTHER of my favorites, Scrooge McDuck (and Daisy too). So, with that, I am all in for the classic stuff, and in true form, I am going to get greedy really quick. Yeah, I want my wants badly now, so if HeroCross is going really do this, I have assembled a list of characters that I want to see right away. Some will seem obvious, while others might be a little more obscure, but getting that character balance right is what makes a figure line great. So who made the list? Let’s see!

5. TIGGER

Hey, bouncing is what Tiggers to best, and since we already have Pooh and Piglet in the line, we might as well work to build the entire Hundred Acre Wood group. Tigger should most certainly be next on the list, and his popularity and overall good design would make for a great figure.

4. PETER PAN

The boy who never grew up deserves a nice action figure, right? There are a LOT of Disney movies to go through in terms of getting characters into metal and plastic, so Peter Pan feels right for this point in the line. Plus, a little Tinkerbell could be included, too, and we would be well on our way to Neverland.

3. MR. TOAD

J. Thaddeus Toad and his friends are by FAR some of my favorite Disney characters. I love the Wind in the Willows stories to start, but the Mr. Toad short film is so much fun, and I have an additional soft spot for Ratty, Moley, Toad, and Badger due to their cameos in Mickey’s Christmas Carol. I get that he might be a *touch* on the obscure side, but that doesn’t make him any less beloved, and he would be a very fun action figure.

2. PLUTO w/ CHIP & DALE

This is the first of two “duh” entries, and while I hate crowding lists like this with too many obvious choices, Pluto must be made, and must be made soon. You just cannot have a Disney line without a complete “Big 5” and Pluto is a member of that auspicious group. A little Chip and Dale would help us get two more essential characters that are probably too little to carry their own release. Make this happen.

1. GOOFY

Again, this get a resounding “duh!” but come on — it goes Mickey, Donald, and GOOFY! If Pluto is a part of the “Big 5,” Goofy rounds out the “Big 3,” and I am actually a bit surprised HeroCross has not gotten to him yet. I personally find Goofy and Donald to be the best original Disney creations of all time, so to say I am itching for this figure is a definite understatement. If Scrooge and Daisy are up next to support the Donald crew (for my friends in the U.S., it is tough to describe how popular Donald is at an international scale, but he is BIG, so his supporting characters make sense), then Goofy REALLY needs to be next. Please.

I am getting ahead of myself, I realize that, but I will now be with HeroCross all the way with these Disney Hybrid Metal Figuration releases, so I want to get the big guns done quickly at least. I could go on and on and on in terms of want lists, but let’s get these five first and go from there.
