The Black Series continues to pump out Stormtrooper army builder variations with this Walmart exclusive Scarif Stormtrooper. The figure started hitting various Walmarts last week and after a few days of consistent hunting I was able to score a small squad of these specialist troops. Let’s take a look at the Scarif Stormtrooper!
The Scarif Stormtrooper is the lowest ranking version of this trooper we’ve seen in the Black Series. The Squad Leader came out in wave two and shares most of the same parts as this trooper with a slightly different paint job and a different belt/skirt piece.
He comes with the standard E-11 blaster from Rogue One, but there is a little bit of metallic silver detail paint included and that’s it. I do wish this trooper came with the really cool double barreled blaster that came with the Squad Leader or one of the other myriad of Imperial blasters that exist in the line because he looks good with those blasters as well.
The packaging is the standard Black Series fare except, as an exclusive, the figure is not numbered.
The articulation is the standard Black Series with the following POA:
- Swivel/hinge neck, shoulders, elbows, hips, wrists and ankles
- Ball/socket neck and torso
- Double-hinged knees
- Swivel hips
Robo’s review of the articulation of the hover tank pilot still applies here because it shares mostly the same parts. The only real difference is that the skirt makes forward leg movement slightly tougher, but it still moves.
The paint is pretty nice as there are a couple of dirt smudge tampos and some really crisp rank/decoration lines on the armor.
It also has a bit more of a wash to it than the Squad Leader, especially on the helmet, so it looks more realistic than the Squad Leader.
The only critique I have of the paint job is that I would have liked a little battle wear on the white and black stripes on the arm.
Overall, this is another great new trooper figure. If you liked the Hovertank Pilot and the Squad Leader, you’ll like the Scarif Stormtrooper.
I’m hearing reports of people finding multiple cases out there, so hopefully everybody will be able to score a couple of these guys to flank the Squad Leader because it looks really cool.
