Bandai: Star Wars Rogue One Death Trooper Model Kit

Whoa, look at Bandai, posting their next figure model kit before it leaks online. I’m liking the look of this Rogue One Death Trooper kit. Then again, I’m a sucker for the models.

I can’t shake the feeling that Bandai jumped the gun here though. Force Friday isn’t until the end of the month, was new product supposed to be shown before then? Who knows, and I’m not going to gripe at all. Bring on more figures!

Like all of the model kits the Death Trooper comes with the standard stand and two sets of decals. One waterslide, one just plain decals. It also comes with several sets of hands. The weapons don’t look like reuse from the plain jane Stormtrooper, there are small tweaks here and there.

Most interesting is the listing of an alternate chest plate that differentiates a basic Death Trooper from a Death Trooper specialist. But for all of my looking I can only seem to find the addition of the over the shoulder pouches like a Sandtrooper.

The kit is due i November and will cost around $28. I don’t know the reason for a price-hike but with overseas shipping also rising this hobby is getting expensive.

  1. I hope Bandai doesn’t rest in their laurels and continues to bring forth brand new models (read: sculpts) of both characters and vehicles, especially from the Original Trilogy. Its been, what? More than a year since we got the last OT character?

After the Battle Droid with STAP, the next two kits they announced were a 1/72nd Poe X-wing, 1/144th Y-wing, and a two pack containing a 1/72nd and 1/144th X-wing as they are to appear in Rogue One. They quality is there and all but I can’t help but feel these are merely “repaints” of kits that have been already released.

  2. “…this hobby is getting expensive.”

GETTING expensive??? Pretty sure we rolled into Expensiveville a while ago.

  3. Looks great! I’ll probably need to get a couple of these guys. Hopefully they’ll mix well with the Black Series version.

By chance do you know when the Battle Droid model kit is supposed to release? Haven’t seen anything new about that set..
