Entertainment Weely has revealed Hasbro’s Star Wars Black Series European Celebration and San Diego Comic Con exclusives. Old Obi-Wan Kenobi and maskless Kylo Ren! Battle of the Bens! But all hope is not yet lost… UPDATE: We’ve received official pics and info straight from Hasbro!
Both have a few accessories between them. Obi-Wan Kenobi is set to be at SDCC and comes with a table and a little hologram Leia that actually lights up. Kylo Ren will be at the Forbidden Planet booth at the London Star Wars Celebration and comes with a base with a First Order banner, his mask, and the melted Darth Vader helmet. So hopefully, HOPEFULLY, these are both a situation where the extras and packaging are what makes them exclusive and the figures and basic accessories will come out later in retail assortments.
Help me, Hasbro, you’re my only hope.

First up, at Star Wars Celebration in London, which runs July 15-17, The Force Awakens villain Kylo Ren will be available as 6-inch Black Series collectible, complete with a scorched and melted version of Vader’s helmet.
The miniature likeness of Adam Driver also comes with Ren’s own helmet and crossguard lightsaber, a version of that handmade laser sword’s hilt, and a banner emblazoned with the First Order insignia.
Later in the month at San Diego’s Comic-Con International (July 21-24), a veteran character from the original Star Wars will get the Black Series treatment with this Obi-Wan Kenobi set, depicting the Alec Guinness character in the scene when the Jedi-in-hiding receives an emergency hologram from Princess Leia.
Leia herself is rendered as a miniature blue figurine atop a table with an embedded light that makes her appear to glow.

Old Ben at last! This might be my first Black series purchase in a while. Thankfully it doesn’t look terrible like Farmboy Luke and buns Leia.

one of the few times hasbro is showing what is wrong with exclusives some time for odds are the retail release of ben will only have the light saber or just the leia hologram and thats it no table to make her look like she is glowing citing costs for retail ren hope he at least comes with the darth vader helment and light saber at retail for don’t care for the banner.
I know it but I’ll tell you what, I think they should come with all these accessories at the $19.99 price point. I always go back to the fact that the og Han figure came with two sets of hands, 2 blasters and holsters. You could literally do every display option from ANH (minus stormtrooper disguise of course). Then figures like ROTS Obi-Wan come out with only a pathetic badly colored lightsaber. I truly feel burnt by this line in terms of getting my money’s worth.
It’s funny. Now that I don’t consider myself a Black Series collector (even if I have 40-50 BS figures in a box somewhere) I find myself inside again, waiting for this Old Ben, ANH Leia (as ugly as her figure is), the Snowtroopers and AT-AT driver. And I’m not complaining about exclusives, prices or anything. I think I wanted those figures so bad that I’m forgiving all the rest. If Figuarts ANH Luke wasn’t so close I even would buy the Hasbro one.
THEY LISTENED TO US! This is great news! The burnt vader helmet looks fantastic (better than the mafex one imo), and… BEN! Awesome stuff. And might I add that that Jedi robe looks pretty darn fantastic.
But… Just one major problem here.
I won’t be pleased until I get a rebel trooper. Hasbro plz… I want some rebels. I want a whole army of them! I want an entire room just stacked to the brim with- ok I’m getting a little carried away, but I just want to say, I want rebel troopers. Please.
For stuff like this, where Hasbro wants to get as much exposure as possible, like getting EW to reveal it, they are completely at the mercy of the publisher. At least, that’s all I can come up with. We’re still waiting for the official Marvel Legends reveal too.
I guess patience is a virtue. The other day another site started questioning why Hasbro hadn’t said anything about Star Wars exclusives, yet. I mentioned in the comments section for their article on the subject that it was odd since they had released info on the Transformers exclusive for this year.
To be fair they’re 100% going to be releasing Old Ben as a regular release without the table / hologram.
Every single SDCC SWB so far has been been rereleased at retail just with fewer accessories (and actually I think just a different box for the First Order trooper).

Agreed/ Why not put that $50 dollars towards Mafex? Forget Hasbro and this SDCC nonsense.

This feels like a slap in the face of Black Series collectors. For $20 these accessories should be included in the retail version in my opinion. Looks like Obi-Wan will only come with his lightsaber? How ridiculous is that? They could at least include a training ball and maybe a blast shield that can be added to farmboy Luke. The table is cool, don’t get me wrong but should definitely come standard. As for Kylo, well bravo hasbro. You’ve pulled off the great scam. This will be my 4th purchase of a 6″ Black Series Kylo Ren. This version should’ve come with the Starkiller base exclusive set without a shadow of a doubt. Even the regular retail version needed to have this fixed lightsaber and melted vader helmet. This is whats killing you hasbro and this is why companies like Medicom and Bandai are curb stomping you and leaving you for dead in the hearts of true collectors. Can’t wait for my mafex Kylo.

I assume we’ll get a non-exclusive Old Ben without the table and Kylo without the flag, though Kylo should’ve come with the unmasked head to begin with.
