WWF fans in the early-to-mid-’90s didn’t have a lot in the way of factions. By 1993, Slick had become a reverend, Bobby “The Brain” Heenan was strictly a commentator, and Jimmy Hart was exclusively working with Hulk Hogan. So who could rally the promotion heels to battle the top faces? The man with the money, of course.
With a deteriorating neck compromising his in-ring career, Ted DiBiase transitioned to a managerial role and became the manager of The Million Dollar Corporation (M$C).
Originally, The M$C was comprised of a bunch of also-ran stars past their prime in Nikolai Volkoff and King Kong Bundy; and mid-card acts like Kama, IRS, Tatanka, and Bam Bam Bigelow, whose main purpose was to lose to the New Generation’s top tier stars like Bret Hart, Lex Luger and Diesel.
The stable finally got some showpiece members with its final round of members, specifically Sycho Sid and 1-2-3- Kid, and headlined several WWF pay-per-views, including Wrestlemania.
Surprisingly, Mattel is pretty close to finishing this faction, and, with a few additions and some minor repaints, we’ll have a complete Million Dollar Corporation. Let’s break down who’s left.
Kama — The second of Charles Wright’s WWF gimmicks was just a little ahead of its time. Nowadays, a wrestler billed as the “ultimate fighting machine” under a quasi MMA gimmick would do pretty well. Back in ’94, Kama was saddled with a goofy ring outfit and a just as questionable hairstyle. On the other hand, this was the guy who stole Undertaker’s urn and made gold chains out of it, so his lack of chill was already well established.
Tatanka — Mattel reportedly has the Native American warrior figure underway. Hopefully it’s not in the white tights attire so it can double as turncoat sellout as well as Luger ally.
Repaints:
1-2-3 Kid — Following his betrayal of longtime ally Razor Ramon, the Kid shockingly joined the M$C. For the heel version, hopefully we can get a deep purple attire and a more obnoxious head sculpt.
Bam Bam Bigelow — The previous Bam Bam was one of Mattel’s best, and it just needs a blue flame repaint to capture Bigelow’s stint with the faction.
Nikolai Volkoff — From the very unlikely category, Volkoff was penniless and forced to join the Corporation. Give him his longer hair, black one-cent tights and shirt to provide a more accurate version. More than likely we’ll need to stick with the Legends tag-team version.
