So, the Star Wars Black Series First Order Stormtrooper IS a San Diego Comic Con exclusive. But I can’t imagine that SDCC is the only place to get the world’s most sought after army builder.
I mean, c’mon, even if you don’t army build the urge to not have at least two Stormtroopers is overwhelming. The Stormtrooper itself is iconic, and even though this is a tweaked design, all the elements that make this “character” a classic is there. Hasbro knows this, and judging from past exclusives like Boba Fett and Jabba we’ll see the figure itself at retail later down the line. Re-reading the solicitation it states “a special commemorative packaging presentation that won’t be available at retail.” Special packaging makes it special in this case. That’s how you do an exclusive. The action figure will be available to everyone eventually, the cardboard and plastic prison will make it a SDCC keepsake. Well, for some, the box won’t even make it on the flight home in my case. If I can get one, that is.
