This week’s featured custom is ethansuplee’s My Pet Monster!
This custom just blows me away. I love everything about it. I was a little too old for the My Pet Monster doll, but I remember really liking the toy, and I think this translation proves that there is something intrinsically cool about the overall design.
ethansuplee did an amazing job translating that design into a Marvel Legends-style figure. He rides the perfect line of silly/ scary monster. I especially like the furry sculpting on the face. The paint is also really nice and has a great organic feel to it with all the subtle variations in blue fur. mkultra shared a cool repaint of Adora that is such a natural fit I can almost trick myself into believing I’ve seen this in a MOTU cartoon. The royal guard colors seem like such a natural fit for Adora’s uniform and mkultra’s work is so smooth it feels right.
I don’t know much about Transformers, but I like the grittier feel of this repaint. Those toys always seem a little too clean to me.
