I love Silk, she’s a great new character from the pages of Marvel Comics and has been a breath of fresh air into the Marvel Universe. And Hasbro made a toy of her!
Silk comes as a part of latest Spider-Man-themed series of Marvel Legends action figures. The Space Venom Series is one of the more fun Marvel Legends series to hit in a while. The character selection is a great mix of modern, past, and off-universe characters. Silk’s inclusion in the series is perfect.
Silk, Cindy Moon, is a character who was bitten by the same spider that bit Peter Parker. I know it’s a bit hokey, but I can buy into it. After all, Peter didn’t kill the spider, and who is to say it didn’t go around biting others? Silk is locked away after her parents find that she can’t control her powers. Long story short, she comes out of captivity, runs into Spider-Man, they do some smooching, and now she is a regular character in the Marvel Universe.
The figure is awesome. Using a variation of the Spider-Woman body, Silk looks great. This new female buck is my favorite in the whole world as it’s a healthier version of the old Black Widow buck with better articulation and sculpting. In fact, that might be some good custom fodder, making an updated Black Widow. Or Psylocke, and the unmasked Cindy Moon head would be perfect for it.
The figure differs from Spider-Woman in that the chest. While large, is not sculpted “naked.” Her outfit covers her breasts as an athletes suit would instead of being skin tight as though painted on. It’s a great look that makes this figure stand out.
I love the new articulation on this figure. Okay, it’s not new, but it works really well. The chest joint has a great range of movement and the other “Marvel Legends” joints are perfect. I still wish that this buck came with double-jointed elbows, but the current elbows work and give the figure a great deal of motion.
The accessories are very limited. Yes, we get a BAF piece, but otherwise the figure only comes with a scarf for the neck and an unmasked head. The unmasked head is beautiful, and I can think of a number of custom action figures it could be used for.
All in all, this is another great figure from Marvel Legends, and I definitely recommend any collector to pick it up — customizers too.
