Orsogranito is a great customizer who makes casts of his custom work and creates kits, so that fans can recreate the work on their own figures. Today we take a look at a kit that gives your Man-at-Arms figures a more Alcala or Mark Taylor concept-art look.
In Mark Taylor’s original artwork, Man-at-Arms had a more conquistador-shaped helmet and his mace had a ball and chain extension. The original mini-comics took a lot from this early concept work, so eagle-eyed readers will notice that the characters are all slightly different from their toy counterparts, and Man-at-Arms is no different.
Orsogranito’s kit consists of a modified mace and the original Man-at-Arms head with a newly sculpted helmet.
The pieces are both solid plastic and are sharply sculpted and well-cast to capture all of the details. The helmet sculpt is a great match for the the taller helmet Duncan sports in the comics and concept art.
It looks especially good in profile. The mace is just like the original MOTUC figure’s weapon except the ball at the top is removed and a chain is attached to a cavity in the mace.
The real metal chain has a metal ball at the end and the whole thing is painted in a shiny, but nicely weathered metallic paint.
The ball does not go back onto the mace to make the original look of the mace, so you need to use one of your original maces to play with the mace without the ball extended.
It’s a cool little kit and goes so great with the Alcala-style He-Man and Skeletor heads we have from earlier MOTUC figures.
