  1. Just rewatched the original Mortal Kombat, because… why not.

And MAN would Robin Shou make a perfect Shang-Chi. 1995 Robin Shou at least.

Instead we got… Boring McMehson here.

  2. It’s when the Hasbro Marketing team huddles together and says “WHO ELSE can we make from this ‘Joe Fix-It” body???”

  3. So…No Black-Jack Tarr in the movie? No Clive Reston..?

And the classic costumes are completely jettisoned?

Oh, well…Hasbro is TRULY focused on saving me $$$. Hard pass on this wave.

  4. These figures are technically accurate (I love Simu Liu’s head sculpt!), but very boring in terms of composition, expressions, and accessories. I feel the overall art direction of the film, based on what we have seen, is very boring and generic. So much could have been done to make the characters ‘pop’ a bit more.

And whoever designed the toys, needs to be put on toddler toy duty. Would it have cost that much more to have each character have an extra head with fighting facial expression? Wenwu and Death Dealer can probably be repurposed as Mortal Kombat Kustoms, but Katy looks too much like Mulan. I guess you could use her hair for a Psylocke custom or Monet (X-Men)?

  5. Man, I want Hyde but I have zero interest in any of these. They kind of remind me of the Doctor Strange wave that got clearanced everywhere around here.

  6. second time’s the charm
unless you go look at how people in China are reacting to the trailer

  7. I’m worried my comment comes off as racist.

That straight up looks like Disney re-used digital renders and props from Mulan for that character.

  8. Tbh, something felt off with the casting to me… Dude looks completely unrelatable. (like what the comic relief for the super hero might look)

  9. They look very good for movie figures. I am seriously impressed. Does not mean I will buy them, but Hasbro really stepped up their game.

  10. I think it’s the expression, he looks like he wasn’t paying attention in class and someone just asked him a question. Or like he just realized he got a text.
The other thing about this line that bugs me, is how many of the kung fu characters have clothing that’s totally going to block movement.

  11. Is Mr. Hyde in the movie? I can’t believe we’re finally getting him, and yet he’s not part of a comic Avengers, Daredevil, or Spiderman wave. sigh 😑

  12. Gotta love how they don’t focus on the sole selling point for me, the Mr. Hyde BAF.

I REALLY wish the hat was removable.

  13. Not all of these figures are going to pegwarm. Except the man himself, Chang Chi. Wow, I’m bored already.

  14. Don’t get me wrong, I’m glad we’re getting him, finally. But that’s probably the only thing saving the line from pegwarming… the way the Eternals one will.

  15. Kind of an out of place BAF to begin with… Hopefully he gets a single release later down the line.
