I managed to pick up an Bandai S.H. Figuarts Iron Man Mark 4 loose on eBay and figured I’ve review it for your pleasure. You might recall that this the armor worn at the beginning of Iron Man 2, that Marvel movies from a vey long time ago, it’s one of my personal favorites.
Loose? Yes, I’m somewhat lazy with the Bandai S.H. Figuarts Hall of Armor Series. As you may or may not know Bandai releases it’s movie Iron Man’s with a Hall of Armor piece or without. The without’s are web exclusives and rather pricey, as are the the complete Hall of Armor sets. But if you are patient, there are collectors out there buying the Hall of Armor sets for the Hall of Armor and not the figure, which means that figure ends up on the ‘Bay for a decent price.
Why am I not interested in the Hall of Armor you ask? Space, my hobby room over floweth, displays are full and I don’t have the space. So I’m skipping the Hall of Armors, for me it’s all about the Tony.
I don’t have a picture of the box, but I do have pictures of the figure in the plastic tray! You can see clearly that there is a ton of stuff here, extra hands, extra heads, some donuts. Yes donuts that allow you to recreate the fan favorite scene of Tony eating donuts. And with the extra heads, which are unhelmeted Tony Stark heads (with sunglasses and without) you are gold. You just need a Nick Fury figure and your Black Widow to complete the circle.
At this point and time in my review life I don’t have a single new thing to say about S.H. Figuarts Iron Man figures, they’ve become as formulaic as SHF themselves. Built on the sturdy SHF joint system, coupled with the amazing sculpting and paint on each and every Iron Man figure, there’s just not much to say.
Personally, this is my favorite look from all the movies, the Mark 3 is also a favorite, but this one looks like Iron Man to me. I’m super happy to have this version and I can’t wait for the Mark 6, another fave. You can pick this figure up today at:
