I’m still having all kinds of fun with 3A Toys Microman action figures. I thought the new factor would wear off or the cloth styling of the figures would wear off, but it hasn’t and it makes them an interesting and unique part of my collection. I recently covered two of the regular 3A releases, as well as the exclusive clear version, and now I’m covering the 3AA member version. During the sale that was posted last year, 3A announced a 3AA member exclusive, SD00 Marcus, in an orange scheme with a gold head and chest piece; he was a nod to the original orange figure from old.
There isn’t much new to say about the overall figure; it’s no different than the others that have already been reviewed. He has a great base body, he has great clothes, and he’s fun to play with. The difference between this figure and the rest of the releases is that the head and chest piece are vac-metaled in gold; it’s a great color and really makes the figure stand out. I’m not certain what it is about the gold head, it’s the same on Crystal Bowie, but the look really pops, and, being the only one in the group with a gold head, he’s special.
Orange isn’t my favorite color, but I love this orange track suit. It pops like nobody’s business on my display shelves. The only thing that could make it any better is if it smelled like orange. Like orange Tic-Tacs — that would be cool.
Playing with this figure is great, just about every joint is perfect, I’ve no problems with parts falling off or snapping limbs. However, the double ball-jointed foot is no longer fun when it comes to posing and playing. They fall apart too easily. It doesn’t take much to have a foot or an ankle and a foot dislodged and rolling on the floor when playing with these toys. And it’s become a bit of stickler for me of late. I love the 1/12 scaling and design of the 3A figures, but the ankle design that works perfectly in 1/6 just doesn’t translate well into 1/12.
