@tenime Are you referring to the Lawson 4-pack that came out last year? Is that not still available everywhere? I was under the impression that there were a glut of those sets hanging around Targets as of last fall when they really started to hit.
That is what I am referring to, and I not only never saw a single one initially, I have not seen it "hanging around."
I found one Splinter at the beginning, which I grabbed, saw a few Ultimate Foot here & there (but passed them all up, because the blue is awful), and battle-damaged Shredder & Napoleon Colossus are absolutely still hanging around since then, but I never found the 4-pack nor April (and had to preorder her in November, and got her a month or so ago).
The whole thing makes me even saltier when you can go on NECA's store right now, and grab a Perry set. It's in stock. So that hung around, and didn't need to be preordered (but at least this way splits shipping up, as I was too worried about sell outs, and ended up paying separate shipping for April, the Usagi 4-pack & bloody Last Ronin Raph, and these two sets - oh man, if I'd bundled them ALL up, and was still waiting on them all...talk about a patience tester lmao).
@cmoney Ohhhhh...I want to get excited, but I also don't want to be crushed. This would be a great capper to the line if they can make it happen.
Lawson set definitely does not hang around. That gets picked up with quickness.
Probably depends on where you live. My Target had the Lawson set for a solid month before it got picked up. The movie line is a pain to track down if you're actively hunting it. Tatsu is probably going to suck since he's the missing piece for basically everyone's collection. NECA knows that so maybe they'll make him in larger quantities than they would have 3 or 4 years ago. The quality of Walmart stores seems to vary a lot too which is likely part of the problem. I know the two nearest me are pretty abysmal, but at one of them I have seen the following shelf cloggers: Shadow Warriors, Shredder & Splinter, Farm Two-Pack, and of late the TMNT III sets. Sometimes a Foot two-pack will hang around and Keno and the Plus-Sized Foot have started showing up and I'm curious how long they last. Wouldn't shock me if they linger. Pretty much everything else though you need to hit it at the right time or it's gone.
I'm torn on the Tatsu news. My movie TMNT collection is tiny. The original Turtles, April, and Super Shredder. I was never able to find the Ultimate Casey, and I kind of slept on ever getting Foot Soldiers or anyone else. Over time I just decided not to go hard on building up a bigger cast - particularly since I didn't feel like there was much chance of ever getting the Casey I actually wanted.
So I don't need Tatsu. But also, I kind of want to support the idea of NECA going to all that trouble to make Tatsu happen. I know they're a business and this is for them and isn't some kind of charitable move. But also they could have just shrugged their shoulders and put those resources into figures that will undoubtedly sell better than a Tatsu.... so on some level this IS for the fans and I dig that.
But I imagine the choice will be taken from me anyway if this is some kind of exclusive beyond the -normal- level of impossible-to-get-TMNT-stuff-from-NECA-in-Canada kind of exclusivity. Time will tell.
Sort of fascinating to see what information does and does not travel in this hobby. Folks on twitter often seem to have the least amount of it, I see some speculation that that's either a custom or otherwise somehow fake, yet in places like this we already know that the shipment container info leaked on this a while back and were expecting to see it eventually.
For my own part, my movie collection has been complete ever since I got the Turtles, Casey, Splinter, Shredder, and a couple of Feet from the first film, so while it's cool to see they finally worked this out for the folks wanting a deeper line, it's also nice to not worry about how this is going to be released officially.
I will absolutely buy Tatsu without hesitation, assuming I can
Well that's a goddamn Tatsu all right.
Looks like the VIP types might be getting Tatsu already. Matt is encouraging folks to keep an eye on the Walmart listing which may indicate this is going to be part of the Collector Con next week.
Decided to do a quick Walmart run and actually stumbled upon Tatsu!
Guess he's hitting stores. Good luck to anyone looking!
