So that's something different. The Skeletor is kinda fun but his forehead is huge. The product page mentions swappable heads but I saw on Twitter that it's actually faceplates. That could be the reason the cloak doesn't drape over the head at all and makes Skeletor look like he's going bald.
Apparently it's $50 though and being a collab with GaryVee means I'm definitely out.
While I support supporting artists, I don't know if supporting them through a company like Mattel has the artist's best interest in mind. I think these collaborations are a cool opportunity for them, but not something I'm interested in sinking that kind of money into. While I recognize the art involved in making toys, toys for me are just that. So I prefer to stick with affordable toys made for the masses rather than designer toys sponsored by a corporation.
In-hand Filmation carded figures are starting to circulate. They look fantastic. Definitely in for all of them. Would be cool if they explored deep cuts, but that's always what gets these lines in trouble.
Im in for all the filmation carded figures too, they look really nice!
I came across the 2nd rulers of the sun 2 packs at two different targets today. Grabbed one for myself of course. Cool to see new stuff!
Nice find Reefer Shark! I'm hoping I can find that before long too. Hopefully it becomes in stock on the Target website as well come October first.
I'm very excited about these Filmation Origins figures. While my main concern is the Mattel Creations figures to complete the vintage collection, these cartoon figures look great, and I may even get extra of some to keep MOC. The packaging is really nice.
You can almost hear the opening of the Filmation Cartoon as you look at these figures MOC.
Ugh, Target. I know it's old hat by now, but having a preorder cancelled and then seeing the item showing up in stores still just irritates the hell out of me.
Saw Spikor and Snake Infiltrator at a local WM yesterday.
Well thanks to toynewsi and Pixel Dan we now have official confirmation with out first look at packaging and art of Leonardo for the "Turtles of Grayskull" line.
Pixel Dan just revealed the spring '24 lineup. There are a handful of new Origins reveals, namely Lord Gr'asp, Terroar, and Necro Conda. There's also a Stranger Things mashup. Unfortunately all of those are exclusives... The ST mashup is at Target and the other three will be at Walmart. Target exclusives are always a piece of cake to find (and usually hit deep clearance) but I'm not going to count on being able to get those Walmart figures.
While they look cool, they don't look like must haves to me. I'm more concerned with finishing out that vintage line up. Where's Sy-Klone, Two-Bad, etc?
The remaining vintage characters are supposedly going to be Mattel Creations exclusives - right?
And for Origins I pretty much only buy the characters I don't or can't own in Classics - which is why I was SO grumpy at the sell out for Lady Slither before I could order - so Necro-conda is a must own. The others I can probably live without.
Man, it sucks the 3 Snake Men are Wal-Mart exclusives. I do hate Wal-Mart exclusives. But all of this looks fun. I'll get everything except the Stranger Things 2 pack.
Now I have to decide too if I want to get the MOTU Ninja Turtles when they come out. My two favorite toy properties ever are MOTU and TMNT. So, I can't see not getting them. But I also don't know if I've ever felt I needed those two properties to cross over.
I wish Mattel could make Origins ThunderCats. ThunderCats and He-Man always feel like they go together to me.
And NORM, I'm with you. I can't wait to finish that vintage collection in Origins. But they all will be released exclusively on Mattel Creations over time. So, it may take a while, but at least we know we're getting them.
Probably just the Filmation figures for me. While I love the Snakemen I've gotten, these three don't do much for me. Maybe Necro-Conda will tempt me, as he's got a neat colorway.
I hope when Mattel Creations releases the missing vintage characters/figures, they release them a few at a time. Just so each figure doesn't end up being $40+ after shipping.
Snake Men have never been my thing. I picked up all of the ones that showed up in the original line, plus Lady Slither. But Fang-Or was a skip for me, and makes it easier to skip others.
On the one hand, it's really bizarre to me that they'd opt to make these whocares characters at retail instead of the rest of the vintage figures. On the other hand, the rest of the vintage line being at MC rather than Walmart and Target exclusive will PROBABLY make them easier to acquire. It will also definitely make them more expensive. So... I'm torn on this one.
What I'm not torn on is those figures. They're awful and I have zero interest in owning them even if they were given to me for free with a check for 1000 dollars that I was only allowed to keep if I promised to display those figures for a year. I genuinely, massively dislike them.
Excited for the Filmation stuff. But that was true before this disappointing announcement.
Which also brings up the question of why not make some more obscure Filmation characters as the exclusives to go along with all the Filmation releases, rather than these new characters clearly designed to compliment a version of the line that's not even available at retail anymore. Those exclusives just SCREAM 'Mattel Creations Boxed Set.' It's so weird.
Also very disappointing that this is what we're being shown instead of what the next vintage characters are going to be at MC, and what the release pattern is going to be for those. I know some of us, particularly international folks, are pretty worried about all of the vintage characters we still need being drip-released one at a time, forcing us to pay the MC mark-up, PLUS shipping on each figure. That's going to make the remaining vintage figures, for us Canadians, like 60 bucks each or more. These are the concerns/reveals I'm interested in.
We know Syklone, Rokkon and Extendar are coming, right? All these new announcements are spring 2024, so I wonder if those vintage figures will be coming out one-per-month in 2023 yet (on MC).
My vintage knowledge doesn't go super deep so for me the only figures I'm really waiting for to be announced are Two-Bad, Modulok, and I guess Stonedar. The giants would be cool too but I'm not sure I'd want them enough to pay the high price. Rio Blast... yeah I'd probably get him too I guess.
I pre ordered the new Filmation figures, but I don't see Man At Arms up for pre order on BBTS or EE. I wonder when it's going up?
