@supercamel-1982, I got a processing soon email and it landed in my POL on the same day, 8/31.
My Snake Mountain from BBTS is supposed to be here tomorrow, along with the Snake Infiltrator and some other non-MOTU stuff.
Ok, thanks guys 🙂
I'm glad your Snake Mountains shipped or hit your POL. Hopefully they will get more in soon and ship mine. I pre ordered Snake Mountain immediately, but I guess not as early as those of you who are getting theirs shipped out.
They did ship my Origins Spikor Wave and Masterverse Webstor Wave out immediately. But I didn't have that luck with Snake Mountain. Hopefully soon. I can't wait to get this playset.
Got my Tung Lashor and Roboto today from Walmart. Glad to see it wasn't some phantom stock listing. Both are nice additions to the collection, especially at a reduced priced ($18.58 compared to the usual Canadian price now of $25-$27).
Roboto is no surprise since I have the first release already. Tung Lashor is a nice change from the reuse of the Cobra Khan body. Nice to get a few newer figures for a relatively cheap price. Double checked Walmart.ca today and they are both sold out now.
I received Lady Slither, but my copy has two upper left arms. So that put a damper on my excitement. She’s pretty rad otherwise. So she comes with a second waist piece, which I didn’t understand the necessity. It’s basically an adapter, because the bottom snake half has a peg that’s too wide for female torso sockets. It’s built for male torso sockets, so that the tail can be used on male figures. I tried it on Sssqueeze and it made sense. I’m not sure if I want to display her with the snake tail or with the human legs, then give the snake tail to the King Hiss snake torso. All in all, I like the figure a lot. Came in form fitting shipper, with an outer box/slip cover decorated in snake skin with a Medusa-like portrait on the front, and bio on the back. Then inside that is the traditional deluxe box. I didn’t understand why FedEx listed the item as 2.3 lbs, but there it is. Extraneous but pretty packaging.
So mad I missed the window for Slither... I really wanted her and might even have ordered two. Interesting that they designed the tail to work with the male torso, that actually makes good sense so it can be reused for a different character if they want to.
Update to my Lady Slither issue. Even before I posted, I had reached out to MC to see if the figure could be replaced. They responded just a little while ago saying they don’t have replacements and can only offer a refund and also sent a FedEx code for a mailing label, and asked for photos. I say fuck that, I’ll keep the defect.
I wound up cutting it just below the arm band and spinning that lower bicep around so the elbow skin is in the back and gluing it back on. It’s not the best fix, because it weakens the arm, but it looks the part. I’ll have to shave the peg down too because cutting though the arm cut through the socket as well.
QC seems to be a mess on Lady Slither. Just saw a post on Reddit where the OP’s package had the skirt pelvis adapter missing. That renders her useless, since what peg and socket remain are incompatible. Did they rush her out? I ordered mine Tuesday and she arrived Friday. But that shouldn’t be a factor. They just had the (already low) stock ready. I wonder how many others will experience subpar product.
Got my Fangors yesterday. Love the figure, and I love the packaging. I really wish Mattel would go that route going forward with future MC releases. It is so nice to be able to play with a figure and then put it back into the package for a wall display without damaging the packaging.
Now I'm worried about Lady Slither. I only ordered one due to the high cost and if there is a QC issue it sounds like I'm basically SOL and will have to either return it, or live with what the problem is.
Saw another post on Reddit, which I’m not convinced is real. Someone got their Lady Slither and the sealed package was missing the entire figure and tail. All the accessories were in the box: the staff, dagger, pelvis. But nothing else was in the tray. If it’s real, something awful is going on at Mattel Creations.
Well it is, of course better to have Moss Man than not have him, but do I really want to tell a multi million dollar toy company that I will accept their abusive pricing? Flocking doesn't make the figure more than double the cost to produce.
Anyway, I picked up the skeleton warrior two pack from BBTS today. Seems glow in the dark is the new big thing these days. They look like fun though, just in time for Halloween.
I was watching MegaJayRetro on Youtube last night and it looks like there is another common problem with Lady Slither. The top of both her legs, where they meet the crotch piece has some scoring on them. From what they could figure it looks like that is where the legs were attached to the sprue during production. So when the legs were cut from the sprue the resulting marking was not properly cleaned/sanded.
It's looking more and more like Lady Slither is going to be a dud for a lot of people with all of these problems being reported.
Lady Slither is out for delivery for me today, so hopefully no defects.
She's otherwise a very eye-catching figure with a really cool gimmick. I wound up fixing mine, and it's holding together well enough for now. I'm just thankful she came complete. It really is kinda shocking that they didn't have any overstock to offer for situations like this.
I've had one instance when Mattel sent me the wrong item (a Signature Barbie) instead of a Pixar Spotlight figure, but they remedied the situation smoothly.
I hope the remainder of figures they need to finish out the original line (Sy-Klone, Rio Blast, Extendar, Modulok, Stonedar/Rokkon, etc) can find their way at least to specialty retailers if not bricks and mortar, because I really don't want to have to count on Mattel Creations with their shipping fees and spotty quality control to get them.
