So, not only did Webstor and Evil Lyn ship, but Reptilax did as well. I didn't get an "order processing soon" e-mail for Reptilax. So, he was a surprise.
@theknightdamien You get a faux anger fist shaking as well... 🤣
Extendar definitely has to be one of the quicker preorders to ship. It's hard to believe it will have only been a month, tomorrow, since he went up for order. Oh the wait.
Anyone else see some of the Youtubers, Toyhabits included, starting to speculate on the Snake Men's Lair? Looks like we will finally see it at SDCC with possible ordering shortly after, if not during, SDCC. I really hope it isn't too expensive because I am going to be in on the Classified Haslab and I would love to get the Lair as well, but if they go too high I'll have to pass. Especially because of the stupid rates Mattel charges for shipping and exchange to Canada ($1200Cdn+ to get Eternia? No thanks Mattel)
Yep, just got notice from BBTS that my Reptilax figures hit my Pile of Loot. Time to ship that bad boy before it gets any bigger.
I did see the Snake lair speculation. And I gotta say, I'm excited about this thing. To think, a MOTU playset that has never been done before, all these decades later. It's exciting.
I am sure this will be quite cheaper than Eternia. But by how much? The Lair seems to be as big and elaborate as say, Snake Mountain. Snake Mountain cost $80 at retail, but this is not retail. Then on top of that, it does seem there are some more details and features in Lady Slithers Lair, and then there will be the Stretch Goals.
I hope they can pull this off for $250-$300 shipped US. But who knows. I'd say I will be getting this playset, no matter what though lol.
@supercamel-1982 If they can keep it under $300US then I'll probably bite. Again because of Mattel's ridiculous exchange rate, and shipping charges outside the US, it will be a wait and see thing for me.
I'm good with a more basic offering, similar to Castle Grayskull and Snake Mountain. I don't need lights/sounds/effects (whatever). Just some nice interior and exterior design with some cool accessories. If Lady Slither's throne is a stretch goal that will be interesting because what if it doesn't make it to the goal? A lot of people will probably be annoyed and feel like they are missing something in the playset.
Hopefully they include a figure in the base offering.
Cartoon Lyn and Webstor are in my PoL.
aaand I just got shipping notice from Mattel Creations for Night Stalker!
That SDCC Two-Bad looks exceptional!
That SDCC Two-Bad looks exceptional!
The packaging and Idea are exceptional. I think the figure execution isn't that great. The heads look like they are from another line. None of the other Filmation figures have that goofy of a look to them. Look at Trapjaws head, and then look at the huge googly eyes on Tuvar and Badra. The heads are also way bigger compared to the body than other Filmation figures or the cartoon.
Hopefully there will be an origins vintage version of at least Two-Bad himself that is WAY better looking than this.
Well played by Mattel putting this out before vintage origins, if you don't buy this you might never get a stand alone Tuvar and Baddrah any other way.
@darkmoon766 agree. On closer examination, I don’t care for those heads. It’s too cartoony, definitely different from the original toy. Will try for it, but if I get blocked by a sell out, hopefully a single version will be released in an easy to attain fashion.
I didn't realize they were supposed to be cartoon-based and honestly, I don't recall what his cartoon look was without a google search. He looks like SOME version of Two-Bad and I like the idea of two separate figures that can combine into the classic look. It's nifty.
So I am a bit torn on this reveal.
On the one hand a Two-Bad that is both characters separately and then combine to form Two-Bad? AWESOME!!!
On the other hand it is the cartoon version which I haven't been collecting.
I still like it a lot, but I was kind of hoping for the Origins version. The packaging is also a bit much to me, but as a SDCC exclusive it is to be expected. They definitely look like the cartoon so that is great. $74Cdn ($50US) is a bit much but considering the gimmick and packaging I am not too surprised.
I’d have preferred Two-Bad to be based on the original toy. It was one of my favorites in the line. Doing a Filmation version is premature.
I always wanted individual figures of Tuvar and Baddrha in my classics collection - and never got them, so this Origins set is appealing in that way. I'll be in San Diego at the con anyway, so I'll probably grab one of these.
Yeah, this is definitely a Cartoon/Filmation look for Tuvar and Baddrha. The Two Bad that will come out later should be a very vintage inspired Origins version to go towards finishing the 80's vintage line.
So, this SDCC set is cartoon inspired, while the later solo Two Bad release will be vintage toy inspired.
I will definitely get this set. It will be cool to just have Tuvar and Baddrha as individual characters.
I’ll still pick this up but I think making it part of the Cartoon Collection was a weird choice. Having Tuvar and Baddrha as individual figures is a deep cut that seems like it would appeal more to the Origins side over the “All big names all the time” approach they’ve taken to the Cartoon Collection so far. I don’t blame them for getting as many uses as they can out of Two-Bad’s torso, I’m just curious why they decided to make this part of the CC instead of just making a Two-Bad for that line, I’m sure a Origins style Two-Bad is also coming, it just seems like the approach for both lines is backward.
