It's funny, the articulated Origins Battle Cat is what got me to start collecting this line! I know in my heart he's not a great figure, but Battle Cat and Panthor were my favorite toys from MOTU growing up and to get articulated versions of them as an adult was a thrill. I love those mediocre cats. (The clearance factor is being discussed over in the Masterverse thread about why we'll never get Panthor there. Breaks my nerd heart. I just want those two cats for every line, it's my only never-surrender hope.

Night Stalker is on the calendar? Gawd, I love this line. I know robotic horses are silly, but Stridor and Night Stalker were just my joy as a kid. Apparently weird animal mounts are a thing for me? Probably benign, right?

Speaking of cats though, I just caved and shipped Adam and Cringer from BBTS all by themselves. I know this means literally TOMORROW I'll get arrival notification about the other fall Origins stuff I pre-ordered but... CRINGER, man. I needs him. ASAP. He's my fave.

If the Origins line was still going strong at retail I would say the chance of a new, more articulated, Battle Cat might be possible.  However with the limited retail exposure of Origins now, combined with how hard Origins Battle Cat has shelf warmed, I don't know that Mattel is going to go back to that well again.

Of course the Cartoon Collection is doing some surprising, and expensive, molds that require investment (like Cringer) so who knows.

I just spotted cartoon Man At Arms and Skeletor and Origins She-Ra at Target yesterday. I’ve seen the same at Walmart. Cartoon Teela too.

I totally misread that and thought you were saying Cartoon Collection She-Ra.

When are they announcing their SDCC exclusives?

That's a good question.  Hopefully Mattel shares something soon. I would say it will be sometime this month though.  The rumor for the Origins SDCC Exclusive is Tuvar and Baddrha with the ability to combine them both and make Two-Bad.

I don't know if that will turn out to be true or not.  As far as Masterverse, I have no idea what or if there will be a SDCC Exclusive for that.

I got the Collector Air Ship today (still waiting on Cringer/Adam).  But this ship is really fun.  The packaging though is incredible.  It feels so much like the old 80's packaging while still being so bright and new.  I'm definitely keeping the box for display.

The vehicle is very simple, but very fun and really cool looking.

I'm on the fence about the Collector. It looks nice but I don't have room.

Think they'll make the Filmation Horde Tower playset?

I received both Adam/Cringer and the Collector today, but only opened the former so far. Cringer would be a lot more impressive if I hadn't just completed Marvel Legends Zabu. The added articulation is worlds better than the Origins Battle Cat, which was again, worlds better than the original vintage Battle Cat. The joints are a little gappy, but work well. The swappable head is nice, one more neutral, the other with a hinged jaw that can express from concerned to aghast. I haven't messed around with other positions like pouncing or sitting, but it's definitely among the best offerings from the entire Origins line.

Adam is also pretty nice. He actually has a newly sculpted right hand with a better grip (no more thumbs up) and an up down hinge for holding his sword aloft, but I feel like He-Man deserves that more. So I swapped them, but Adam's skin tone is just a bit brighter, while He-Man's is a bit more tan. It's not really noticeable, but my eyes have failed me before. Speaking of eyes, Adam has two portraits, one where his eyes are closed and he's grinning/laughing (I SAY HEY!) and the other with open eyes and a stern look. Unfortunately, not stern enough, as the eyes are almost crossed. It's not that bad, but certainly noticeable.

I'm otherwise very pleased with this set. I kinda hope we get more animation specific looks, like Duncan without a helmet or Teela without her tiara. Also, now that I have pretty much everyone available, I really want them to make Ram Man, Whiplash, TriKlops, Man-E-Faces and wouldn't mind some of the guys who were cartoon only like Strong Arm and Lizard Man. Gonna need a good guy vehicle soon too.

The Cringer and Adam pack is a lot of fun.  it will definitely end up in my Top 10 items of 2024.  But I agree. I would love all those characters and looks you mentioned in this Cartoon line.

Lizard Man, Strong Arm, and even Fang Man and the Game Master. As well as the character I ALWAYS wanted most in Masters of the Universe Classics.....Dragoon!

I still can't believe through Classics and Club Grayskull we never got Dragoon.

Maybe now in Origins/Cartoon Collection we can get Dragoon.  If they do a good guy vehicle, I wish they'd do Attack Track.  That was always the main good guy vehicle it seemed in the old Filmation cartoon.

I'm torn on the skin tone thing. On the one hand, I always like Adam being lighter than He-Man, just for the 'Clark Kent Glasses' effect. On the other hand, the vertical wrist is so integral to both versions of the character that I really want to be able to swap it around and not hate looking at it. Mattel should have tossed an apology hand in there for He-Man. It is, after all, totally on them that no one working on various He-Man lines is smart enough to realize how dumb it is not to give 'I have the power' wrists to fucking HE-MAN figures.

I went ahead and opened the Collector. Some minor assembly of the stabilizing fins was required. But I'm not sure if my inserting the fins led to the crack across the brow of the roof (as shown in the photo, just above the windshield), or if I didn't notice it was already cracked before I opened it. I'm not sure if I want to go through BBTS customer service to see if I can get a new one though. I can't really prove it wasn't me who busted it. I'm pretty disappointed either way. If this hits big box retail, maybe I'll buy a new one and return this one as damaged. As is, I haven't found it in me to actually fully try it out by seating figures inside. I'm still too sour.

I haven’t been picking up the Cartoon Collection figures, I have all the characters already and didn’t grow up with the cartoon so I don’t have the attachment. But rumor has it they will be adding some characters who have not been made in Origins. I don’t want figures with a different body style, but Origins are so customizable, has anyone tried to swap CC parts onto an Origins body? If so, does it look good or is there a clash between the two construction styles? Thanks.

Got my Adam and Cringer today and I agree with Super Camel, it's a top ten set of the year for me. I also agree that Cringer's a little less impressive, ROM-wise, after having just put together an all-time great animal companion figure in Zabu over in Legends Land, but I can't hold Origins/Cartoon Collection to that level of detail. Cringer's delightful. I'm in love with this lil guy.

@valo487 Like you I don't have any of the Cartoon Collection so I would also be interested to hear if they are compatible.  However I think the slight change in height might make them too wonky to work with Origins parts.

A few more observations about the Collector:

I wound up repairing the cracked dome by unscrewing the windshield and glueing the broken parts back together. Seems to be holding well enough. I think I was the culprit for this damage though, as I forced the fin into the roof with a bit too much pressure. The plastic for the dome is pretty thin, and i can see stress marks on the inside around the fin slots. Speaking of slots, there's a hole in the bottom of the ship to accommodate a flight stand (like most, if not all MotUO vehicles so far), but no included flight stand.

The interior has three seats, the rear single seat has gold deco like a throne. The driver seat has a control console that pivots. There are levers in front of the passenger seat, but they don't move. I did notice a clip that would be in between the legs of whoever's seated in the rear throne. I though there was a part missing, but it also happens to clip around the Havoc Staff perfectly, so that it is secured horizontally in front of Skeletor. I'm betting that's what it's for. When figures are inside, it's almost impossible to see them in there without shining a light through the windshield.

The package is a mixed bag. The front features an illustration of a battle, but the characters look oddly out of scale with each other (MAA and Battle Cat look too small compared to He-Man being captured by the vehicle. Easter eggs include She-Ra riding Swiftwind on one side, and the Horde's Imp hiding in the shadows of the opposite side.

The back of the package shows strangely/poorly photoshopped figures that have and have not been released yet, like Webstor and Evil-Lyn, plus figures that haven't been solicited yet like Spikor and Clawful, who are riding inside the vehicle, but photoshopped so that they look much smaller inside than they would with the actual toy. In the far background is the toy version of Snake Mountain, but that bugs me since that's not what Snake Mountain looked like in the cartoon. The top of the package has photography that show off the features/abilities of the vehicle.
