@canprime

Night Stalker should come out later this year, I guess.  Should.  But it's been quiet on the Night Stalker front.  Hopefully we'll hear something soon or at SDCC.

I definitely don't get my hopes up.  I want to complete the vintage collection so bad, but I honestly don't know what Mattel will do next year.  I don't know how well the MOTU lines are doing.

Out of the 13 remaining., I wouldn't even care if they didn't do Rotar and Twistoid, since they are tops. And I wouldn't care to miss out on Hurricane Hordak since we have regular and Buzz Saw.

But I really, really want the other 10.  We're so close.

Hopefully they can keep making these limited releases on MC's, since they seem to be selling out.  Hopefully the Lady Slither playset does well, and I imagine Mattel will want to keep trying to have some MOTU figure presence up online and at retail until 2026 so they can still have the rights to make MOTU product when the Motion Picture comes out (if it really does this time. I'll believe it when I see it.)

But I try not to get my hopes up while still being hopeful.  Hopefully I don't hope too much or hope too little that I kill all hope.

I think Mattel still puts value into what they're doing with Origins. They have to be aware that it's still popular enough to sell out, and outsell Masterverse. I'm sure they'll complete as much of the line as they can.

It's actually a mystery to me why Masterverse doesn't sell as well. Especially the New Eternia stuff. Like @docsilence was saying, they're some of the best figures Mattel is making these days. I think they're better than Classics in a lot of ways. Fresh but faithful designs, more articulation, creative accessories. And they're available mass market? I can't imagine why more MotU fans aren't on board.

@normdapito Yeah, I collect both lines and really enjoy both a lot - I'm shocked how much I like the cartoon collection and I'm legit in love with the Turtles of Grayskull stuff - but I'm shocked more MOTU collectors haven't embraced the New Eternia stuff. Maybe it's the marketing? I won't lie, I was like, seven or eight figures in before I went: wait, WHAT is New Eternia? Was it a cartoon I didn't watch? A comic? When I found out it's just really clever, really earnest re-designs I was all in though. I actually think New Eternia might be the best modernization we've seen in a toyline because it ALWAYS honors the original design but always does something new and delightful with it. I'm never disappointed by it.

Not to go on a tangent in this thread, but I think the key is that Masterverse redesigns differently than that 200X line. Look at Sy-Klone for instance. Both the Classics line and Origins line adapted the back ring that 200X debuted, but Masterverse ditched it all together and gave us something unique. That’s what makes the line refreshing for me.

Maybe it isn't so much collectors embracing Masterverse, but rather the two lines being different entities.   Masterverse is still a retail line from the looks of things, while Origins has been relegated to online exclusives for the most part.

Has anything released in 2024 hit shelves at retail?  I can't speak to it very well because I am in Canada and Mattel has basically abandoned MOTU in Canadian retail.  The last new thing I saw on shelves was Masterverse Slush-Head and he was a TRU exclusive up here.   Origins wise nothing new has been released at regular retail since last year.

I gather in the US you guys are still seeing Masterverse on the shelves somewhat regularly?   Maybe Mattel has decided that Masterverse is going to be their retail line and Origins is going to finish up online only.

@canprime all of our Walmarts seem to have clearanced out the old style boxes of Masterverse so the new wave with Mekaneck and Tri-Klops is hitting.

Same with Origins. Now we are getting the cartoon collection and then randomly Terroar and Lord Gr'asp and of course Turtles of Grayskull.

Yeah, I'm seeing more Masterverse and Origins show up at Walmart than at Target these days. One of my Targets is still choking on figures like the Buzz Off/Jitsu/Stratos/Sorceress wave, Fisto and Andra and Sun Man from MV. It's also gotten some Turtles of Grayskull stuff like Trap Jaw, Sla'ker, and the first wave. But one Walmart by me got the Masterverse Mekaneck wave, got cartoon Teela/Beast Man, Grayskull stuff. "Regularly", yes. But a lot of it isn't new.

I never shop at Walmart but my local Targets have been sparingly stocking MOTU, both lines. Usually will only have one or two Masterverse and two or three older Origins on the shelf. Sun-Man stuff hung out for a while. I will say I'm kicking myself for not picking up the Origins Stranger Things two-pack I saw cause those were gone the next time I went to the store.

I did nab the Turtles of Grayskull Trap Jaw in person, but it's the only figure from that line I've seen in a store. Got Sla'ker from Target online.

Apparently Lady Slither was back up on Mattel Creations for a hot minute. Sold out for now.

That's crazy. And with no warning.  Did anyone on here who needed her get one?

I luckily got her back on her original release.  But I still think they have to either fully re-release her or put some sort of variation of her in the Lady Slither Castle Crowdfound.  So many fans missed out on her, and I'm sure a lot of people would want her to go with her Castle playset.

Toy Habits on YouTube is reporting that they have a rumor that Hordak and Mantenna may be coming to the Cartoon/Filmation line in 2024.  Their information and rumors often are correct.  So, while just a rumor, there is a decent chance this turns out to be true.

BBTS just sent pre-arrival notice for Adam and Cringer. Definitely one of the sets I'm most looking forward to, but OMG I JUST shipped nine MOTU figures from them last week. The deluge continues.

@docsilence

Cringer and Adam is one of the sets I'm looking forward to most as well. I even ordered a second set to keep MIB, and I rarely get anything to keep MIB.

But you are right about the deluge.  MOTU has had so much product lately between Masterverse, Origins on Mattel Creations, and Origins Cartoon Collection.

And that's just Mattel and MOTU!  Hasbro is just adding to that like they have a vendetta.

Man, now the Collector Air Ship is shipping soon as well. I got processing soon at BBTS for it.  Let the deluge continue.  Might as well just go ahead and ship Evil Lyn and Webstor too since they are next up and really put it to us.

I don't think I've wanted a figure more in this line than I want Cringer, but I gotta laugh that I haven't even had time to open everyone from the BBTS shipment I got on Monday yet. Less complaining and more laughing at the absolute TOWER of boxes in my office right now.
