Are these mass market preorders? Specialty? Or just fucking Mattel Creations?
I won't go too deep into it since it's already been covered, but collecting anything MOTU absolutely fucking sucks in Canada and it's such a crushing disappointment that Mattel simply ignores this fact.
I really don't care about the new designs of Snake Men, nor do I understand why this is the direction Mattel is choosing to go. Just piles of random new snake men designs when there are so many existing MOTU designs yet to make it into Origins. And, if I'm being fair, that's probably the main reason I don't care about any of these. If a new snake man design was sprinkled in with other older designs and remakes, I'd probably buy it. But it very much feels like this is what we're getting -instead of- the classic toy characters and other much older, more beloved characters (Masks of Power Demons, POP, etc).
And I don't get it. Not at all. Why is this the hill Mattel has decided to die on?
Cartoon collection looks really good, as always. Fortunately for me, a lot of my nostalgia for Filmation is tied up in the main cast and a couple of tertiary characters that I happen to like anyway (such as Tri-Klops). I truly do not care about Filmation variants of guys like Webstor, Clawful, or Spikor. I will probably need to get Evil-Lyn, though. If I can. I also don't care about the Horde Prime trooper, but I am very interested in the idea of that Robot Knight making it out in proper Filmation colors.
That Adam/Cringer set, though? That's the balls. I -want- that pretty badly and hope it's not some Mattel Creations bullshit.
A lot of stuff went up for pre order just 15 or so minutes ago. Masterverse and Origins (plus TMNT/MOTU). Its all on BBTS or EE.
I ordered mall of it but the Origins reissues.

Out of what was revealed, this is all that was exclusive.

Then a couple things for Turtles of Grayskull were either Wal-Mart or Target exclusive. Nothing revealed on the March 26th reveals was Mattel Creations exclusive.
I am appalled at myself for the amount of stuff I just preordered on BBTS. Fortunately I didn't goof and accidentally order the reissued Triclops and Orko.
Oh, nice catch. I just canceled that Tri-Klops. Ordered all the New Eternia stuff and cartoon collection. Can’t believe the price on the Cringer set! That’s a steal!
I almost clicked Tri-Klops barely awake and still in bed at 4:30 am.
I'm not actively collecting Origins, but I HAD to grab the Adam and Cringer set this morning.
I always joke about which figures/sets will NEVER go into storage, and the Adam/Cringer one I can already tell is going to be perma-displayed. It's so dang good.

Second, I did goof with Orko and Tri Klops lol. I thought they were cartoon versions and not just reissues of the original Origins releases. So, I had to go back and cancel them through the mountain of Origins and Masterverse stuff I pre ordered.
Luckily on BBTS that is easy to do.
Also, that prince Adam and Cringer set is amazing. I did indeed order x2. I don't know if I need two, but I somehow knew........I need two. Childhood Super Camel would have shit actual shit in his Camel pants to have this as a child. Now, I shall have two.
I'm a little confused, is Tri-Klop only available at BBTS? I can't seem to find him on EE or Amazon.
Firstly, do you need that Tri-Klops? It's just a reissue of the Origins version, non-cartoon. Secondly, it may just be a BBTS replenishment? They've done that with random sets and figures, and sometimes they just don't come through. I'm actually considering the Orko. I could use one to go with the cartoon collection anyway. If anything, I think they went more cartoon aesthetic for his execution anyway. It doesn't look enough like the vintage toy.
So, just to make absolutely sure I'm not missing something - Reptilax went up for preorder but Vypor did not yet, right? I need both of those desperately and don't want to miss.
Origins is one of the hardest lines for me to collect because of the various release patterns and rotating exlcusivity. I'm still grumpy that I missed out on Lady Slither. I'm still confused about Necro-Conda - has that gone up for sale yet or are we still waiting? That's Wal-Mart only, right?
I wish this stuff was easier to buy.

Since I am fundamentally on the complete opposite side of the opinion divide on this I'll chime in a bit. I think the idea is to make this something beyond just a slavish recreation of what's come before it. Trying to make the line something that builds the brand rather than just re-covering the same well tread ground over and over and over.
I get wanting to rebuild the vintage collection for the old heads - I do understand it... but as someone who didn't collect this in the vintage era and doesn't have huge nostalgia for the Filmation cartoon (though I do appreciate it) I am far more drawn to expanding the universe, to covering new ground to seeing new characters and getting new figures. So it makes me happy to get this stuff and I hope they keep doing that and other things like it. The two pack of skeleton warriors was fun. Give us more of those characters from the box art. I'm not saying don't also keep doing those characters from the vintage era - but I don't see any reason that has to be first.
