It's not a me thing, it's happening to quite a few people. And anyone who has dealt with Mattel for a long period of time, knows this is one of their stupid things that happens. It's happened since the 2000's with Matty Collector.
Some folks on forums seem to be getting it to finally go through with the card they kept trying with. others, like me are trying different forms of payment, and even that isn't working.
I had to try my checking account 4 times before it took that.
The same thing happened to me with Rokkon. I was using Firefox, I switched to Chrome and it went through right away. I had no issue with Snout Spout or Sy-Klone through Firefox. Weird.
Whew, that was a shitshow. Mobile browser wouldn't accept the cookies permission, so then I got stuck in an endless captcha loop, then finally got through to order using my work computer.
Seems like a true pre-order though, as he didn't sell out in 3 minutes, so good news for future releases?
My hold up was the “technical difficulty with payment method”message. I tried one more time a few random minutes later after trying repeatedly, and it went through. Thank goodness.
What the stuff... Origins Demo Man and Origins Geldor... man they know how to tempt me. I'm going to be pissed off if they are offered only at the web site and only at separate times so separate shipping charges for each... but I'm not sure I can pass those up. Sigh
I forgot Sy-Klone. This is the first one I'm disappointed about missing out on (I got Grizzlor during the made to order period and Wundar in his second release). Mega Retro Jay live streams drops and I happened to see his video in my YouTube stream about four hours too late.
Sorry guys but a bit of enjoyment from shared misery incoming..........
Well now some of you guys in the US are seeing what a @#$% show us international buyers have been going through lately. Talk about @#$%ing the pooch Mattel. This really can't be happening from one of the largest toy companies in the world, can it?
I lucked out, but didn't at first.
I made sure to switch to the Canadian page so that it "should" have worked when I tried to preorder. However I got the dreaded "Shop Pay doesn't ship to your country, switch to guest to check out" message. The last time I did that it still wouldn't let me order.
However for whatever reason this time I was able to get my Sy-Klone order in as a guest. So I am lucky to have been able to snag one, but man this is just becoming a terrible experience. I wonder if I can find the internal fortitude to actually not keep rewarding Mattel for this garbage (short answer is no I cannot).
I want to be really, really excited about some of then new stuff coming out - like fucking DEMO-MAN (hell yeah) and Adam/Cringer. All the figures look terrific. It's just hard because these, as canprime intimates, are so ludicrously hard to get (and expensive) in Canada. Am I even going to be able to get any of these figures? Who knows.
If all of this stuff were readily available -at the same time- I'd probably be buying everything.
Did anyone notice that Adam has the correct style of wrist articulation? I don't think he has the same skin tone as any other He-Man figures, though. Which would be a huge bummer. And pretty ridiculous that only now is Mattel figuring this out. What a clown show of a company sometimes.
It's nice to see stuff like Geldor and Demo Man. Hopefully they can keep doing stuff like that. But hopefully they can also make it easy to get.
It's nice to hear they do still plan to finish the vintage collection. Only 14 to go now.
I'm excited to see what they show on March 26th.
Why did they have to abandon the made to order model for Motuo? MC is still doing it for other figures. WWE's Punk has a two week window of unlimited purchases. Without knowing any of the economics behind Mattel's production, I would try to sell as many Origins figures as possible since it's near the end of its run and limit Masterverse if you expect it to continue on and create some FOMO. That's if you believe in limited availability makes figures more desirable theory. How can they not know how many figures they can sell after this many MC releases? I'm gambling on a Snout Spout sale because I paid full price for the other figures only to see them given away in a BOGO sale
@mrboshek Yeah - ditching the already-functional idea of having a pre-order window and making as many as they get orders for seems, to be a bit hyperbolic, an intentional 'fuck you' to collectors. There's really no reason to make these in whatever numbers and then do drops that are a massive pain in the ass even for people that manage to get them, let alone people that don't or that struggle for hours fucking around with Mattel's shit-garbage website. It's just such a bizarre and incomprehensibly-run company unless you approach it from the specific perspective of 'they hate their customers.'

In my crabbier moods I really want to believe someone at Mattel really despises adult collectors, especially MOTU, and likes to torture us for #$%^ and giggles.
I guess, for whatever reason, they have decided to just make a MOQ order and then sell out rather than preorder and make whatever is ordered. I can see the issue of time if it is a preorder and us having to wait maybe up to a year for the item and then dealing with the whining like people do with Super7 or the Haslabs.
I think in the end they are just happy to make XX number of units and sell them out rather than deal with a year's worth of waiting and collectors moaning and groaning.
@canprime The CM Punk figure has a disclaimer at the bottom of the description in line with the issue you mentioned. I think I waited about 10 months for Grizzlor. Better to have him later than others, than not have him at all, but I guess the extra run wasn't worth it to Mattel.
After the sale window ends, all orders are final. The made-to-order item’s expected ship date will be displayed on the item’s product page in our online shop, and may be up to a year from your order date. You will be notified before your order ships, and provided with instructions if you need to update your shipping address. If the expected shipping date changes, and the revised date is more than 30 days after the original expected shipment date, you’ll be notified of the new expected shipping date and have the opportunity to request a refund if desired.
Thinking about the MOQ preorder style, I wonder if factory logistics play into it? Like, they have a set schedule at the factory for "figure A", then "figure B", and "figure C". They know how long a production run of X number of figures will take, so they can schedule out the factory and keep them dedicated to MOTU or other Mattel lines. Then they just preorder/sellout the MOQ online, and it keeps everything running smoothly, instead of collecting as many preorders as they can, which may screw up the factory schedule?
Not looking to be a Mattel apologist here, because lord knows I've missed enough figures due to an instant sellout instead of a few days preorder window, but just an ongoing curiosity at how these big companies internal processes work (often to our detriment).

*Clears throat*
Ahem.
SHILL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 🤣
Yeah I imagine they have logistics to worry about which is probably why they only do certain figures as true preorders, and others are already done but they say preorder when purchasing. I'm sure going back and doing another run isn't easy, but they have done both before (another run and year out preorder).
So maybe they have a sweet spot with Origins now where they know what the minimum is they can make and sell out. So why make more that may not sell out right? Look at Masterverse Snout Spout. He is fairly universally loved by the fans as a figure, but they still have stock of him, along with the other Masterverse MC exclusives. Origins on the other hand is sold out except for very common (overproduced) figures and that ridiculously overpriced He-Man four pack which they still couldn't sell out during their buy one, get one free sale last year.
Either way Mattel is really not making collecting MOTU, especially Origins, fun for me anymore. Made worse by being an International collector (who is right beside the US mind you).
