Yeah, they need to make sure they get the vintage characters done. There is only 15 to go at this point, and I do not want this all to end and not have them.
Plasmar, Strobo, Gr'Asp, and Terroar are cool and all, but let's get the vintage collection finished first and foremost, above all else.
I guess it's fine though, because I'm sure Plasmar and Strobo, like Gr'Asp and Terroar will be exclusive to Wal-Mart or something. Whereas the remaining vintage collection figures will ONLY be released on Mattel Creations. So, I guess it's not like Plasmar or Strobo are going to take a spot off of Creations.
Still, I just wish they'd focus, complete the vintage collection, and offer more than one vintage collection character at a time and stop dragging this out forever.
Yeah, I mean - take my glibness with a grain of salt here. I love MOTU and I think most MOTU characters are great and should get figures - including new ones and ones only ever appearing in artwork and all that stuff. I love it.
BUT... Mattel had basically made a pledge that we WOULD get the rest of the vintage line and many of us took that seriously and said 'okay, good - then I will stick with you and buy your stuff.' I think it's necessary and important to hold Mattel to that promise and I think it's important for Mattel to be SEEN following through with that promise as something of critical importance to them.
And right now Mattel is giving the appearance of really not caring very much and just carrying on doing whatever they feel like doing, regardless of what customers were told. And if things go tits up and Origins finally does just end WITHOUT getting to those vintage characters, then Mattel needs to know that no customer living today will (or at least should) ever trust them again. Part of how I'm sending that message is saying outright that I'm not buying any of these random characters until they actually appear to put some effort into getting out the characters we were already promised that are either stuck in limbo or haven't even been revealed yet. That should be their priority and there's NO indication from them right now that they actually do consider that a priority.
Did they say the remaining figures would be the next few releases or give a timeframe? Because they’re probably dragging it out because they know a lot of people are going to jump off as soon as they get all the characters they feel they need, they certainly don’t want to end the line. But Two-Bad is very likely going to be the SDCC exclusive, so that’s one right there. Extendar and Sy-Klone are already revealed, I don’t think there’s anything to be concerned about. And speaking personally, I’d much rather have Strobo and Plasmar than Twistoid and Rotar, to me the only thing they have going for them is that they were part of the OG line. I’ll pick them up but it’s purely to support the overall line.

I don't recall them giving any specific timeframe or anything like that. But this was a WHILE ago, so the stuff we're seeing now definitely went into development/tooling -after-. They're definitely dragging it out intentionally. I have no doubt about it. My point is that I want to make that business idea a failing one. I'd prefer we vote with our wallets -against- being baited along like they did with Classics - a line that NEVER got around to the Masks of Power Demons everyone was asking for so we could get Scott's fucking vanity project and the Star Sisters.
Especially in a world with ever-increasing prices, you just never know when a line will stop meeting sales figures and end. The 'Classics-strategy' isn't tenable here, and shouldn't be accepted.
And let me be clear - I really want Extendar and Rio Blast. I really don't care at all and will not buy Twistoid and Rotar. And there's non-vintage figures I'd like more than any vintage characters beyond maybe Extendar. It's not about what I personally want for my collection. It's about holding Mattel accountable for doing what they said they were going to do. They shouldn't just get away with saying 'support us and we'll do this' and then just .. not doing it while saying 'if we just don't do what we promised, we can keep them on the hook indefinitely buying everything except the thing they asked us for.' Mattel can fuck off with that shitty way of treating customers.
But I can't stop anyone here from buying Strobo and whatshisfuck, and I wouldn't want to if I could. I'd just like to see that solidarity from collectors telling Mattel to stop pissing around with their promises and treating customers like fools.
I want a new Ram Man with better (working) legs. The Origins Ram Man is the most disappointing figure in the line.
Two Bad is actually going to be both a SDCC and regular release on Mattel Creations. The SDCC Two Bad will be Tuvar and Baddrha, and you will have the parts and pieces necessary to turn them into Two Bad.
the regular release will be just plain old Two Bad.
Oh ok, that makes sense. I’ve wanted to see the two halves get their own figures for years, but Two-Bad is the star, so I might get both if I’m able.
And I agree about Ram-Man, and I’ll add Beast Man to the list also. I know his Origins figure is a recreation of the vintage figure, but I’d like to see a more beefed up, hunchbacked version, like the 200X design.
Well it looks like Walmart.ca is continuing the trend of not carrying the MOTU exclusives. They have the Collector Con preview up and there is no sign of MOTU, or anything Mattel outside of Barbie.
Granted there is a slim chance that stuff could show up on the day of the sale, but if the past is any indication I won't be holding my breath for a chance at Terroar.
At least they have the Classified and ML stuff (along with TF) so I'll have the chance to grab them.

Argh, that is so frustrating. As much as I'd like to blame Mattel, it's likely Walmart Canada just didn't want them. Hopefully some 'fan channels' will get them at some point, like they did with Zoar, or they get rereleased in some Cartoon Collection waves down the road.
Did Moss Man ever show up in Canada?

Has this been officially announced? Because in recent years the SDCC exclusives have been available for purchase on Creations. You can still purchase Motherboard from last year and the 4-pack from 2022. So it would be disappointing if they didn't do the same for Tuvar & Baddrha.
It hasn't been 100% confirmed. But if it happens, I'm sure the Tuvar and Baddrha set will be offered on Mattel Creations.
Do you think they will eventually do all of the new figures that MOTU Classics brought to the franchise, such as Draego Man etc.?

If it was a healthy line that was managed well, they might get around to Classics era characters. As is, I’m still not confident they’ll release the specific figures that remain from the original line.

Hasn't this line very recently switched from retail to online-only? They are probably just finding their feet with that again. At least the line hasn't been cancelled!
