Not to mention shipping fees from MC. The $$ is inevitable, but getting the figures is still not a guarantee, whether they sell out or are even announced. Still no word on Two-Bad? I hate being strung along.

Also, Filmation at retail? I’ll believe it when I see it! As far as my collecting has gone, I haven’t seen Origins in a store since the Jitsu wave. Everything since has been acquired online.

What's the shipping cost for the US?

I'm in Canada and it is either $13Cdn or $26Cdn depending on the service.  So most times I have picked up at least two of each exclusive to ease the pain of shipping.  The only time I haven't is for the more expensive stuff like Lady Slither where I couldn't justify doubling up at such a high price.

I admit, much like mikeysee, I am surprised they went with Rokkon as the first release.  I guess they want to string us along as long as possible.  So the less desired remaining figures will probably get released more frequently and the more deisred ones will take longer.   As for Two-Bad I figure we'll see something either late this year, or next year since we have seen prototypes of Sy-Klone and Extendar which hopefully means they are coming sooner rather than later.

@canprime Shipping has been $7 on the last few orders I made, whether it was for a single figure (Slither) or several (3x Frog Man), plus tax. On average paying $10 more for each order. I don't always want extras just to spread the shipping cost. I did with Frog Monger and I'm still sitting on extras.

I appreciate that there's this avenue available to get these figures. I just don't appreciate the added cost, the wait for announcements, the chance of sell outs. I prefer the ease of ordering through BBTS which has been 100% reliable, and seems to have been working since the beginning of the line. I don't see why that formula had to change. All most of us need is a wave or two's worth of figures.

Yeah... I'm with you on all of that Norm.    I'm not in love with the Mattel Shop set up at all.   I'm still bitter I missed Lady Slither and the idea of dropping one figure at a time to maximize shipping costs for customers is kind of messed up too.    Luckily at this point the only Origins figures I need are the new characters they drop,  so I won't have to get in on this round of sales... but I'll have to stress about another one in the future I'm sure.

They could make it up to me by giving us a second shot at Lady Slither.    Heck put her in a 3-pack with some snake men repaints or whatever and get me to spend more.

That's another irreconcilable issue. Sell outs. I haven't lost out on any figures that I really want, but I definitely got locked out of figures I casually might have bought. I can't imagine how heated I'd be if something like Two-Bad or Sy-Klone or Modulok sold out on me because of the Mattel Creations availability.

And... eventual sell outs wouldn't even be a problem.   But with Lady Slither I had meetings when she dropped and by the time I could get around to the site she was gone.     Exclusive inventory like that should last at least more than a day.

IF Mattel cared about fans of the vintage characters, they'd make sure that these figures will be handled like Grizzlor was. At this point, I have my doubts. I'm usually off on Fridays, so I should be able to order one when they go live, but I feel for those collectors who don't have the same freedom.

I also worry that if these vintage figures don't do the numbers Mattel is hoping for (whatever those may be), they'll cancel the remaining vintage characters and we'll have to finish Origins with vintage figures on the secondary market.

Why does this company make it so hard to take money from people willing to give it to them?

@normdapito Yeah but BBTS is still just a drop in the bucket for orders compared to the big retailers.  Look what happened with Super7.  I imagine that BBTS is not looking to get involved with taking on a lot of stock with the hope of selling most of it.  Plus while BBTS works for you guys in the US, anyone outside the US would take a beating even worse than Mattel Creations on shipping, customs/duties and exchange.   With Mattel Creations I pay the taxes and flat shipping rate in local currency.

Also remember the last Mattel Creations crowdfund for Jurassic Park?  The whole 5,000 units sold in the US before opening it up to international backers?  Granted that was a more expensive item than a single Origins figure, but I don't see them wanting to limit their options like that again, further anger their fan base (outside the US) and frankly if they tried going through BBTS that would almost be a defacto default to the same situation.

Like it or not the retailers have spoken and they don't want anymore Origins figures on their shelves.  I know the new Filmation stuff and Turtles of Grayskull are basically the same thing, but the big buyers don't look at it that way right now.   I would imagine all the product sitting for months on end (Jitsu wave, Battle Cat/Panthor, etc. etc. etc.) only to end up going to Ross and Ollie's for even further discount isn't an attractive option for Mattel.

That leaves us with DTC from Mattel Creations.  Price creep was already happening before the "end of the line" at regular retail.  So further price creep with limited production runs is inevitable.

My only hope is that they learned a bit of a lesson from the items that didn't sell out and are still available on the site.  Character selection and price go hand-in-hand still. They still have a lot of characters on the site that didn't sell, probably due to a combination of price and popularity.  However the glaring exception is the He-Man 4 pack.  They clearly thought they could milk us for more due to his popularity and they are still stuck with that set, even after they did a BOGO (free) at the end of last year.

My fear is that they'll still go with a higher price because of the perceived demand from fans for those remaining characters we all keep saying we want.  I guess we'll find out in about 2 weeks with Rokkon.

@valor That's pretty much a guarantee.  If the upcoming exclusives don't sell out quickly.  Or worse don't sell out at all and sit on the site until a sale.  Then they won't continue.

However they do seem to be mostly in on continuing Origins through Mattel Creations since they are planning a crowdfund for the Snake Men's Lair this year.

@theknightdamien

Hopefully more.  We still need 16 figures (if you count Rotar and Twistoid as figures) in order to finish the vintage collection.  i really want to wrap that up ASAP.

Who are the 16 remaining from the classic series still to be done in Origins out of interest?

I know Sy-Klone, Modulok & Multi-Bot are 3 of them

@jag2045

Rokkon
Stonedar
Sy Klone
Extendar
Rio Blast
Two Bad
Multi Bot
Mudulok
Blade
Saurod
Gwildor
Blast Attack
Dragstor
Twistoid
Rotar
Hurricane Hordak

Then, some may also include Laser Power He-Man and Skeletor.  But as far as unique characters, we need 15, and then the Hurricane Hordak figure is the 16th.

OMG!!!  My Eternia Playset has shipped.  It looks like others are getting shipping notices as well.

Uh oh.  I'm not ready for that big box yet!

Also, as far as vintage stuff that we don't have in Origins yet, I'd be interested in a Megator (and to a lesser extent, Tytus).

Cool thanks!

I've only cherry picked a few Origins due to money and space issues (just managed to get Ninjor from the restock) - would love Modulok to appear in the line as I loved the original one!

Has anyone's actual playset arrived yet?  I received a shipping notice yesterday, but it was for the King Grayskull figure by his lonesome - he just arrived.  (So quick shipping on that, at least.)    I haven't heard if the actual Eternia has begun shipping yet.

I didn't order the thing but I have seen LOTS of pictures on Twitter and Instagram of people that have received their Eternia playsets.     A couple of the people were posting "bummer" pictures because the boxes were delivered in Southern California during the wettest storm in memory and the boxes got drenched.
