@theknightdamien

Agreed!  And the fact it's Powers of Grayskull packaging gets me hopeful Mattel might really dive into that.

He-Ro, Eldor, and maybe even seem Dinosaurs.

@supercamel-1982  You have more faith than I do. I love the stuff I own, but I've gotten pretty disillusioned with Origins due to the complete radio silence from Mattel on the future of the unreleased/unannounced vintage characters. I can't get excited about the possibility of a Turbodactyl or a He-Ro when they can't even give me the Extendar they already showed off.

Hopefully there's just a glitch in the system and stuff will be announced and sold in the near future. But given the vintage stuff will almost certainly remain MC exclusives, ever-rising prices makes me nervous the longer they wait that I'll be priced out before this stuff is even solicited (again, if it ever is).

It's definitely weird how they haven't said anything at all about the remaining vintage characters this year.  But I really do feel in February or March we will see someone like Extendar or Sy-Klone go up for sale on Mattel Creations.

Hopefully from there we can continue getting the characters still missing from the vintage collection on MC.  As far as Powers of Grayskull, I am hopeful that we can get them at retail or in the Fan Channel offerings along with the Snake Men.

Maybe even Mattel Creations.

Who knows.  I hope they haven't given up yet, and their silence is just they are working on the new Cartoon figures, Eternia, and just haven't said anything yet since the New Year.

But...........it could always just be they said f*** it and left us high and dry lol.

I sure hope that Moat Monster isn't retail and he's coming packaged like that with Eternia.  I know a lot of collectors don't think exclusivity should be a thing (and I do get it) but surely $600 should bring a little exclusivity, no?  If not I'll be a bit salty but I guess I'll only have my own FOMO to blame.

Also, it's been forever since I bought an Origins figure (Ninjor and Randor are sitting my PoL though) so yes please, bring on the rest of the vintage line, even if it's all MC exclusives.  I'm ready to call this collection complete but it won't be until I have Sy-Klone and Two-Bad.

I would buy the Moat Monster if it's somehow released on its own.  I had no interest in Eternia, so there's no other way I'd get it.  Regarding Eternia, the playset itself is the exclusive.  I wasn't too keen on them packing in exclusive figures with it.   I don't really like that sales approach with any line.  If there's going to be an exclusive, make it a deco or packaging change.

I opened the first four cartoon figures.  Love them.  I think Beast Man looks the best.  I don't think I need this subline to go on very long.  After Teela and Trap Jaw, I want:  Merman, Evil-Lyn, and Triclops.  I realize there are some characters, like Clawful, who look rather different than their toy versions, so they may be interesting.  Not sure who are some good guys who look different enough to warrant cartoon releases.  It'll be interesting to see what kind of plans they have for the line.  Especially regarding keeping He-Man and Skeletor in rotation.  Were there different looks for them in the show?

Also finally got around to opening the Talon Fighter.  Such a nice toy.  My one issue with it is accessories can fall out of the ship if you tilt it.  I with the back weapon rack sticker was an actual compartment to hold weapons.  Or at least have some handle clips on it, so weapons from the passengers could clip in for storage.  Otherwise, it's a really fun toy, especially since I got it for something like $15-18.

@mikeysee The Moat Monster definitely comes with Eternia packaged like that.  It is not a retail item.

Ugh, so the original line figures are definitely relegated to Mattel Creations? And won't even get released as a wave, I imagine. Just a slow burn over the next couple years to finish off the few we still need. Typical Mattel bullshit. Need Two-Bad, Sy-Klone, Modulok, and then I'd call it a day.

@mikeysee While I definitely think the Moat Monster is just in that packaging with Eternia, also count me in the camp that thinks the exclusive is Eternia. Frankly, and no offense intended, a get tired of the collector attitude of 'I spent X amount of money at exactly Y time, so I should be the only one that ever has this thing.' It's such a weird and counter-intuitive approach to wanting to share your hobby with people.

Frankly, I don't even care if they re-issue the entirety of Eternia again sometime. Unless there's a binding contract of absolute exclusivity, then the complaint is just dressed-up vanity. Now, if a fully re-issued Eternia comes along and is CHEAPER -- then I would totally agree about that being ethically questionable and a bad way to treat the customers that jumped on board right away. Otherwise, as long as you're getting what you paid for then why on earth would it ever matter who else can also get that item and when?

@supercamel-1982  Where did you see that? I haven't seen a single toy site OR MC's website reporting anything yet. Although MC is absolutely fantastic for completely burying MOTU merchandise and not even attempting to drive interest and sales.
Figures, though. I don't give a single shit about Rokkon. Where the goddamn hell is my Extendar.

OH MY FUCKING GOD... What the hell is with this forum software and changing my text size? I cannot figure out how to change this back to normal.

@theknightdamien

It's on Mattel Creations Launch Calendar on the MC's website.  February 16th at 9:00 AM PT, Rokkon.

Hopefully Extendar is next.  But they only showed us Rokkon, Extendar, Sy-Klone, and Night Stalker last year for MC Exclusives.  i wonder if those 4 items are all we'll get this year, spread out quarterly.  or, if more will be released this year.

Hopefully more.  We still need 16 figures (if you count Rotar and Twistoid as figures) in order to finish the vintage collection.  i really want to wrap that up ASAP.

Yeah we have kind of known this was going to be the case for the remaining Origins figures people want.  Most of them are high cost molds that won't have a lot of reuse.

Also it really isn't Mattel bullshit so much as it is them just going the safe route.  Origins is done at retail and they have now moved on to the new scale Filmation figures.  Remember they don't work with Origins because they are slightly larger and have some slightly different tooling/design choices as well.  So those get a release at retail, along with simple, no cost, refresh/repacks of older Origins figures and anything new Origins goes to Mattel Creations.

What I am not looking forward to is what the price will be on these Mattel Creations exclusives going forward.  Again most of them require a fair amount of, if not completely new, tooling.  Without large retail orders and no clear reuse options I imagine they are not going to be close to retail pricing.  That was one of the good things about the early exclusives.  They were still either retail price, or close to it.

Not to mention shipping fees from MC. The $$ is inevitable, but getting the figures is still not a guarantee, whether they sell out or are even announced. Still no word on Two-Bad? I hate being strung along.

Also, Filmation at retail? I’ll believe it when I see it! As far as my collecting has gone, I haven’t seen Origins in a store since the Jitsu wave. Everything since has been acquired online.

Bummed they're dropping Rokkon before any of the other missing figures.  I wasn't even aware of him or Stonedar as a kid so they're not big wants for me even though they are part of the vintage line.  Even still, I'll be tempted purely because it's been so long since I've opened a new Origins figure.  If it's $30+ then I'm going to do my best to fight the temptation.
