@tsi search The Beadsmith – Stack Jar 4-Piece Assortment on Amazon and there are a bunch of different sizes etc. that come up.
Oooh, do you store the unused hands, accessories, etc. in the jars that each figure is standing on? I'd love to have a way to store all their extra bits right there in the display.
Anyone who got both the Lady Mandarin Psylocke and boxset and the 97 Wolverine might try the head from black suited Wolverine on 97 Wolverine's body. The blue hair highlights looked pretty good in the pic from the guy I saw who tried it. Looked like one of the better unmasked Wolvie combo's that screamed 90s Logan in comics.
It has been too long since I read (or did not) the storyline on Psylocke. Can anyone tell me at what point the pink costume Betsy shows up? Truthfully that was the one I expected when this set was announced. I guess from some of the comments that is what others expected as well. I guess this version is actually first appearance and what I'm thinking of is Outback X Men.
This is Betsy's early costume progression, Pink and Outback came before Lady Mandarin. Go to uncannyxmen.net and Character Spotlights, they have a up to date-ish breakdown of character histories and costumes.
@darkxorn Yooooo, we just gonna gloss over the fact that her first costume was basically dressing up as her attempted rapist?? 😳
You can take that up with Marvel Comics, I'm not approaching that story beat with a 60 ft pole!
So which existing Betsy figure would best represent Kwannon?
The ninja costume. Unless I'm not understanding your question.
...Out of honest curiosity, was there ever any "canonical" explanation for Sabes going from 6-footish to what looks like 7 or 8 feet tall?? Was it later augmentation, secondary evolution, or...?
Jim Lee wanted to... honestly I'm trying to remember when Sabretooth got huge. I remember he was still normal sized in Mutant Massacre and in some intervening Wolverine stories. Even when Jim Lee did him the first time in Adjectiveless X-Men 6 he wasn't huge... huge. I truly think it was the cartoon. I can't remember a comic depiction of Sabes being that big until he showed up in the 90's show as this giant.
@kolobosrexx It was in the 1993 Sabertooth mini series. Grayden Creed abducts him and has his lab guys enhance him.
@h-bird no but that's way smarter! All of my extra pieces are in bins in my closet.
@stephenwdavis the Apocalypse wave figure with black hair is essentially Kwannon-as-Psylocke's character design.
I was never a fan of Psylocke as Lady Mandarin just because I didn't like the art in X-Men #256 and #257, but wow, I got the 2-pack yesterday and right now she's the best figure I've seen this year. It was Doc Ock before her, but the difficulties with bending his tentacles and they way the design encourages you to rip them out of his back will likely eliminate him for consideration in the 2024 figure of the year. Psylocke's cape limits the left arm, but she's surprisingly poseable in almost every other way. She's got one of the best female sculpts Hasbro has ever done. I've long thought Angela was their best female sculpt, but now I'm forced to decide if it's Angela or Lady Mandarin. My only gripe is I still can't figure out why they scaled her to be the same height as the already overly-tall Vulcan height placing the character at about 6' 3" or 6' 4" for some bizarre reason. I guess one of their sculptors just mostly ignores scale because they've been all over the board with out-of-scale characters over the last year or two.
I particularly love the head sculpts. I didn't like that evil grinning head when they first showed it in the livestream, but in-hand I absolutely adore it. Those energy effects that clip to her wrists are also one of the best effects they've done in years. I'd have to think about what the last great effect they did was, but the Havok effects are the last really good one that jump to mind and that was almost two years ago.
