@ibentmyman-thing so would the current retro black Spidey be a better match for what I'm after?
I think the Secret Wars Spidey would match better with the upcoming animated Spider-Man. They won't be exactly the same but the builds seem more similar.
That wolverine looks better and better. I know its supposed to be based on the work of Mike Zeck but I love the little nods to John Byrne in the headsculpts. Particularly the hair on the unmasked head and the little smirk on the masked head.
This wave turned out more desirable than I originally thought it would. Iron Man’s accessories and being pinless had me buy a figure I was going to pass on. I stilll like tech armor Beyonder better but the Battleworld accessory sucked me in. Titania, Logan, and Peter was all I was going to buy. One Peter will stay on card.
Wave 2 hopefully.
Thwipp!
For a second wave, I’d want:
Volcana
Absorging Man
Wrecker
Colossus—pinless redo
Magneto— classic on the Vulcan body
I can totally see a Titania + Absorbing Man 2-pack coming
I love your picks, Beamish! I'd buy that wave in a heartbeat! If there's a Wave 2, my picks would be the Absorbing Man, Volcana, Wasp, Thor, Magneto and red-and-blue costume Spider-Man. The Thing needs a redo since he's expensive now, Daredevil is long overdue for a solo release, classic Falcon and the Wrecking Crew have been requested for years, the recent Walmart exclusive Lizard was very hard to find and is expensive now, X-Men like Cyclops and Colossus need new updated figures (though I'm sure Cyclops will be in a future "X-Men '97" wave in that '70s suit), Enchantress would be cool to see updated, and we badly need Deluxe remakes for The Incredible Hulk and Doctor Octopus. Hulk needs a new body mold with butterfly shoulder joints and clapping hands (and better face sculpts and hair than the Marvel Legends 20th Anniversary wave figure) and I would like to see Doc Ock get new alternate heads for the comic version's blue glasses and the Mattel toy's black glasses with the bendable wire tentacles. I also wouldn't object to updated figures for Hobgoblin, Iceman and Electro, either. I'd joke that Wave 2 would be the Rogue from the Destiny two-pack with a new head sculpt with white repainted on her suit, Iron Man with the correct unibeam color and a Rhodey alternate head, red-and-blue Spider-Man on the AF 15 body mold, Cap with an intact shield, Volcana and a character from Secret Wars II that wasn't in the original comic series or Mattel toyline, but I don't want Hasbro to actually make that happen.
Except Titania was revealed as part of the wave one of the Secret Wars retro carded line. Absorbing Man could be in wave two.I can totally see a Titania + Absorbing Man 2-pack coming
@stuartgreen Lots of good points!
Particularly, Enchantress needs a redo. Face printing and pinless joints would be a major upgrade for her. My SDCC Enchantress and the regular version both have pinned legs that wilt under her weight. Pinless joints would be significant for her.
Magneto— classic on the Vulcan body
That body was made for Magneto. It'd give the MAFEX version a run for its money.
Was anybodies first thought upon seeing Titania, was oh look there is Rachel Summers arms and lower legs ready to go.
I did think that on behalf of everyone desperate for Rachel, but isn't she a teenager/young adult? Titania is close to She-Hulk height - they should not be on the same body.
I have zero attachment to Secret Wars - comic or toy line - so to me these are just cool villain figures. Beyonder is neat and kinda looks like Alden Ehrenreich and Titania is fun to get a new character on a new body with all the correct sculpted parts! Why Titania gets sculpted boots and Phoenix doesn't is a Hasbro typical thing, but moving on! I pre-ordered Cap just because I don't want to fight forever to get him as I really like the smiling head - finally! And the broken shield is great - lots of good posing value out of that. Also pre-ordered Spidey, but mostly out of FOMO. I don't really need that one.
