A classic Dr. Doom with all the bells and whistles is one of the few characters I would bite the bullet for a Maximum release.  But it would have to be the classic look they have yet to do.

Imagine the uproar if the only proper Classic Doom release was $50...

I guess... but also, if it included multiple heads and a ton of awesome accessories someone like me -  who obviously was negative about the pricing on the Spider-Man - would be an advocate,  so maybe not as much as you might think?

Or maybe I'm being naive.    Like I've said before -  there is a very limited list of characters that I think I would find value in in this "Maximum" offering space,  but Dr. Doom is one I could definitely see and justify.

LIke the rumored Maximum Deadpool coming up - hard pass.  No interest.   Probably a Maximum Daredevil.  Not really something I need.   Maximum Punisher - while I could see it - multiple head options,  swappable arms for a trenchcoat vs. no coat option,  and lots and lots of guns, grenades, weapons -  still not something I'm desperate for.

One other I could maybe justify would be Archangel -  give him three sets of swappable wings - fully expanded, semi folded and fully compacted -  multiple heads: death mask, full cowl, flowing blond hair - some loose flechettes for weaponry, a flight stand.   I could justify a Maximum price point for that.

But the list is short for me.   Doom is one I could really get behind.

The one thing I’ve been wondering about this Maximum line is in opposition to this, Hasbro should just do an All Star line with the Alisters if they want to keep them in rotation. I remember DCUC did an allstar line that would always put out previous figures of their most popular character at pretty much then same price point. No BAFs. So the Maximum line can come with all the bells and whistles at the higher price point. And the “AllStar” line can just give us poor plebs the normal msrp version. Maybe come with a different base headsculpt to differentiate it more from its Max version or slightly different coloring. And rotate the same figures a year or two apart so Hasbro can still take advantage of FOMO. Lol.

Hasbro is practically doing this already with MCU versions. There is absolutely no reason they can’t make an evergreen line of main guys like Spidey, Cap, Wolverine, Daredevil, Punisher.

Sounds like you’re describing a “premier Doom”.  I’d be cool with that, but I’m not sure the Maximum line is the best place for that version.  Many of Doom’s innovations developed later.  It does prompt an idea though.  If Legends is looking to do sub-lines, then what about a “Premiere line” featuring first appearances:

Spider-man: Red/Black, web pits

Daredevil: Red/Yellow

Dr. Doom: as described

Hawkeye: toga look

Black Widow: fishnets

Captain America: triangle shield, bare neck

Iron Man: rerelease w/ skirt

Hulk: Gray rerelease

etc.

While I wouldn't mind a first appearance Doom.  I'm actually advocating the look you posted in the first few images where he battles the Red Skull.  I want him in the classic hood and tunic with the armor shown there.  If they were to use one of their existing Doom armor looks, I would pass on the Maximum release.

As for your other first appearance suggestions, I would only be interested in the Black Widow.  I think I'm good on what Hasbro has already done for the others.

We're using true statements, I'm condescending, they're a creep. Case and point, as usual, they've presented a straw man where they equivalate missing yellow booties with their entitlement for sexier toys, under their flailing banner of "buh y no accurate double standard i want the boobies!!!!". I don't care if it get's personal, they're not someone I rate particularly well due to things they've said in the past. And I'm definitely not someone they hold in high estimations, which doesn't bother me. They knew what they were doing when they decided to pick at my first post in relation to getting the Maximum Spidey, so I'm more than happy to follow the play book while they now lament they're "wasting their time". They've been here before and they won't be able to help themselves when it inevitably happens again. If you find this upsetting Enforcer, or if you feel the need to step in, I'd suggest just let it runs it's course. They eventually run out of steam, and they'll go back to the shadows until the next opportunity to be a full time Hasbro-anti presents itself.

🙂

You never disappoint.
Honestly, if someone like you approved of my opinions I would be disappointed in myself.

And for the life of me, I cannot understand why you don’t get the concept of figure accuracy.  I’m not certain what part of that you just don’t understand.

Your Archangel idea sounds like it would actually be a good fit for this line!  More accessories than Angel came with, and didn’t he cost $35?

@puckace

To be fair, those were just some examples off the top of my head.  A line could potentially feature premiers of anyone.  Other possibilities include first appearances of:

Henry Pym

Blade

Bkack Goliath

Wonder Man

The original five X-Men

Namor

Human Torch (Hammond)

Swordsman

Mantis

Him

Her

Gamora

Drax

Wolverine

Cobra

Red Guardian

Dr Strange

Ms Marvel (Danvers)

Savage She-Hulk

Darkstar

Vanguard

The list could go on.  I know there’s desire out there for classic / premier appearances of several characters, and Hasbro is slow getting them out.  A sub line could scratch that itch for a lot of collectors.

I'm definitely one of those collectors.  Bring on the classic looks I grew up with Hasbro.  I'm not getting any younger 😉

I was thinking, if this line continues and does well and they decide to keep going with 5 characters a year for 3 years with only A-listers, what other 13 characters you think they SHOULD absolutely do?

I think we would need at least: Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, Dr. Doom, Cyclops, Storm, Wolverine, Dark Phoenix, Magneto, Venom, Daredevil, Namor and Scarlet Witch.

But of course if I had a say in it, these are the ones I would love to see getting the Maximum treatment: Wolverine, Storm, Psylocke, Gambit, Iceman, Black Cat and Elektra.

Dark Phoenix ONLY if they resculpt the hideous fire-eagle they shipped with regular Phoenix into something that resembles the DECADES of source art.

And give us headsculpts that actually look like Jean Grey/Phoenix.

Scarlet Witch is an interesting proposition! Wanda has had so many different looks - I wonder how interchangeable pieces could work on her.

I really don’t think I’d need a Maximum Iron Man. Which armor do you even do? Sure, one of them could get the full articulation treatment, but then I’d want them all to get it. I’d love for this format to focus on characters that would benefit from it the most. Max articulation, useful accessories like alternate hands and heads.

Captain America deserves it. Swap him at the neck so we can get an exposed neck Golden Age look. Get that torso pivot under the blue part of his uniform. Give him multiple shields, with a system similar to Marvel Select where shoulder straps and arm straps could be swapped on. Both sets of straps could be used for his triangular shield and circular shield. Honestly, just copy the Marvel Select.

I understand the sentiment Norm -  but I think it's a super thin slice of characters that get maximum benefit from increased articulation and characters that are strong enough to sell at $50 a pop.

For example, I don't think of Punisher as a character that absolutely needs the most possible articulation but I think he could absolutely benefit from a SKU like this - as I've indicated previously - do a traditional Punisher costume but include swappable arms and a trenchcoat overlay and alternate heads so he can be swapped into different looks and then pack in a bunch of weapons accessories, lots of guns, some grenades, etc.      That is a release that would absolutely benefit from the higher price sku without needing hyper articulation.

I don't think this release format has to be ONLY about hyper articulation - it can also be really deluxe pack out that wouldn't be possible in regular $25 figure.
