Got my 2 Spider-Men. No paint or quality issues, that you'll see magnified on the socials. Poses like a dream and it's the ideal Peter I've waited for. A beyond worthy successor to Spider-Man Classics Series 12 Spidey.
It’s only “magnified” if it didn’t happen to your copy.
Or it's magnified because it's the same 3 images being posted across multiple platforms, by people who do not even own the figure, to rage farm engagement.
Do better.
I don’t need to. I’ve seen different figures posted different places with problems that a $50 figure shouldn’t have. Yours didn’t? Great! But don’t act like the people that didn’t get as lucky don’t have valid complaints. Or that, since it didn’t happen to you, it’s being blown out of proportion.
I was going to say that you're not so stupid as to fall for the inflated hysteria around this figure, but then, unprompted, you mentioned the price, and it's clear where your inane ramblings originate from.
Man, you are certainly condescending. I will give you that. But you’re not quite as superior to others as you try to be.
I’ve mentioned the price before. I can’t help it if you missed it. It’s hardly a secret I think it’s overpriced. At that price, it’s not worth it to me. Even if the QC was perfect. Doesn’t matter. But I think it’s foolish to dismiss problems that others have simply because you don’t have them.
Also, I think hysteria is overstating the situation. I for one am not too bothered by passing on this. Off the top of my head, I have at least 5 ML Spider-Man figures in the regular costume. I’ll be ok. But I don’t want this line to start a trend of locking popular characters into a $50+ price point. Eventually they’ll hit one that I do want. And I’m not sure I can justify the price to myself. Except for the Merged Hulk. It would have to be an egregiously over-inflated price for me to pass on that.
If I'm not mistaken, you're one of those people who think they're entitled to get sexy female toys under the guise of "but I just want accuracy!!", so I absolutely think you are degenerate-adjacent from the go!
I also think you're completely disingenuous as you keep tip toeing around the well known hysteria this figure has generated, but it seems that is intentional.
As stated, there's the same 3 images spread around multiple social media sites, latched on to the band wagon of people who have some innate need or obsession for this figure to do poorly. The quality issues are not widespread, and most of the examples of quality complaints I've seen are followed by some insane expectation that Hasbro should have done a complete overhaul of their manufacturing process and built brand new factories with cutting edge technology because "the pwice is high, how can they justify this bit of paint being missed deep into his ab!!!". Hasbro has been manufacturing their figures the same way for nearly two decades, and one high priced figure that makes you clutch your pearls, is not going to change the way in which they do it, as you well know. At this point if you are not aware of potential for quality issues, limited such as this case, or widespread as other releases, you're fooling yourself and actively choosing to get angry and unreasonable. They are making mass produced toys in the same places they've always made their mass produced toys.
I very rarely see you, and certain other people, come here to simply talk about figures. You only pipe up when there's something you can complain about, a chorus of terminal dissenters. If this hobby is causing you such misery, as it seems to be for the past few years, put your energy into something else. In the meantime, I'm happy to continue to disrupt the echo chamber of unrest you seem so intent on creating, with gusto, abrasiveness and the contempt you so deserve!
We get it, you 2. Agree to disagree or move the huggin and kissin to PMs.
To the earlier point about locking A-List characters (or classic costumes) behind the Maximum banner... that's totally valid. If we only ever saw red and blue Spidey or tiger stripe Wolverine released as Maximum, that would suck. For people on both sides. Fortunately, if the leaks are to be believed, there is another Secret Wars wave with probably a blue/red Spider-Man in it. Likely on the AF15 body.
I wouldn't have a problem with the Maximum Spider-Man body being used in the main line for Spider-Man. If the message from Hasbro is essentially "look, you got this new figure with a pretty specific look. We thank you for supporting that. We've heard the fans and are releasing a more bare-bones version with some hands and maybe a head. For everyone who got the Maximum, you have the option of all the accessories and the webshooters and all the hands will be compatible with this new release." You won't be able to get a McFarlane version outside of Maximum, but there is additional value in having gotten the more expensive release. Frankly, any subsequent Spider-Man that Legends releases that isn't on par with this or using this new body will be sort of underwhelming.
