Superman: ghost of krypton page punchers reveal

if it’s true that the Armor pieces come off then it looks like I’ll have my New 52 Superman. I’ll have to swap out the head but overall it’s basically a New 52 Superman. It’s using the same body as Val Zod if you look closely. Now all I’ll need is for Todd to make a New 52 Batman and I’ll be happy. An actual New 52 not that sorry excuse for New 52 when it’s clearly a Rebirth Batman.

Yeah just saw that post on Instagram but not by McFarlane but another very reliable source.

Yeah looking at the cover of the Superman-specific comic book cover and comparing Val and Superman’s bodies, it does seem pretty evident that Superman and Val are on the same body and the armor is removable.

Will buy Val Zod, not much interest in the others tbh but I do love these over-stylized sets man.

Seriously digging The Brainiac That Wouldn't Die up there. Todd getting a hold of the more monstrous characters, or at least the characters who change regularly enough that you can go wild with them, is the best part of this line.

yeah brainiac looks great, looks like a modern creepy version of his robot look.
Mattel – DC Superheroes Brainiac (Bronze Age)

This is still the best

Glad there are people into these - there should absolutely be a place to be a bit creative, like Legends of the Dark Knight, but with Superman. Page Punchers has totally been my jam, except Wave 3, never was into the frozen stuff.  I know in the long run we all tend to love the stuff we saw inside comic pages, but I like Todd flexing muscles a bit. Braniac looks like the Mattel take a bit and Superman himself has a badass vibe that's not new52, but sorta in that spirit.  Plus Justice League waves and Cyborg Superman coming finally do make me positive again about McFarlane.  My main interests are elsewhere but I can find some space again I think for Superman at least.

Some observations - originally Earth 2 Superman was in this wave and there was an armored Superman 2 pack with Braniac.  One got bumped out and the armored version looks to be the first reveal which I love.  Wonder why, but glad it's arriving.  It also has some design elements similar to Gladiator Batman.  Wonder if they scrapped the Metal Gladiator Trinity and did this instead??

I really really hope Green Lantern gets a Page Puncher wave.  He or Wonder Woman should be next. Would like to see Mahunters, Ares, Lantern armor etc.  For example this bonkers armored Kal technically makes more sense on a Lantern but we shall see.

I don’t know what I’m looking at with that Superman. But this is peak Todd, I guess.

Earth-2 Superman actually wasn’t bumped from this wave: just confusingly labeled. Val-Zod *is* the Earth-2 Superman of this particular wave, and is labeled as such in the official McFarlane reveal yesterday. But I’m pretty sure I’ve seen leaked lists where this figure was labeled “Val-Zod” and some where he was labeled “Earth-2 Superman” and, I *think*, even instances where both Val-Zod AND Earth-2 Superman were on this list: but it was always, as least as far as I can remember, listed with two different Supermans (Supermen??) and then “Ghost of Zod” and Brainiac. But it is SUPER confusing, especially since this wave has been “hanging out” on rumor lists since the middle of last year, and then the Crisis wave suddenly came into the mix with its own, distinct Earth-2 Superman.

Once upon a time, I had that DCUC Brainiac, but sold it in favor of the DC Direct Crisis version. One of those moments where I wish I didn't sell.

That PP Brainiac looks like someone stuck the Toybiz Ultron in a microwave.

I just can’t shake the feeling that $40 Superman figures with half painted belts are what actually pay for these Page Punchers. I don’t mind unique designs but I don’t want them to come at the expense of properly tooled/priced classics. There’s no reason we can’t have both.

Easy pass but Brainiac doesn’t look bad to be honest.

Val is the Earth-2 Superman.

The Superman with eagle is what I’m most eager to see.

I’m hoping it’s based on some truly iconic covers from yesteryear.
