Toy Biz: Marvel Legends X-Men Legends Box Set Unmasked Wolverine

Toy Biz Marvel Legends X-Men Legends Box Set Unmasked Wolverine featured

Wolverine from Series 3 saw a number of releases, there was the standard masked version, the unmasked version and the boxset unmasked version.

There is a difference in the Series 3 and X-Men Legends Box set Wolverine, the headsculpts are different, it’s not just the hair but the whole face is different, box set Wolvie be screaming all open mouth like. This just fuels my need to hunt down a Series 3 Unmasked Wolverine.

There isn’t much new to be covered in this archive that wasn’t already covered in Series 3 article from VeeBee or that hasn’t be covered in all the other Wolverine articles. We get it, he’s a popular character and there are hundreds of action figures of him. I can’t say more than that.

Even then, the sculpt was already covered before. And the articulation. Doing another Wolverine article is like beating a dead horse. And yet I know that I have some more Wolverine articles ahead of me before the year ends. Instead I’ll use this space to talk about the original figure that Wolverine here comes from, the X-Men Movie Evolutions of X 2-Pack featuring comic Wolverine and Movie Wolverine. Collectors loved this figure, if they could find him. It’s a great sculpt but it really feels like it’s made for a seven inch line, in today’s standards perfectly scaled for Marvel Select. Wolverine being the five foot five inch runt that he is would be perfect for that scale.

Collectors, like me, wanted Toy Biz to take that sculpt carve it up, articulate the crap out of it, shrink it down and release it in Marvel Legends. And we got our wish in Series 3. Toy Biz took this beautiful sculpt with five points of articulation and chopped him up into what he became. The Evolution of X Wolverine as a stand alone figure, or statue, is a fantastic display piece. The sculpt is top notch and I remember correctly he was supposed to be on display with another comic figure from a never released Evolution of X 2-Pack featuring Sabertooth. I would love to see that figure.

If you notice on Wolvie there are a ton of scratches and even a huge chunk of his forearm is bitten off, so much character in this figure. If you ever get the chance pick this figure up, he’s worth it.
