Hasbro – Marvel Legends Armin Zola Series: Madame Hydra

Hasbro Marvel Legends Zola Series Madame Hydra featured

Madame Hydra is another of those classic Marvel Comics villains that just keeps on rolling. This baddie first appeared in 1969 in the pages of Captain America as Viper, and has since appeared in Avengers and X-Men comics. She’s a leader in Hydra and is affiliated with just about every evil super-spy group in the Marvel Universe. I recently caught up with her in the pages of Wolverine (or was it X-Men?) where she is in charge of things on Madripoor.

Hasbro reached deep into their pockets and gave us Madame Hydra as a swap figure in the Arnim Zola Series, and we are grateful. Kinda of. Using the known Black Widow frame, the same used on Madame Masque, she sports a different paint job and different head sculpt. The head sculpt draws a ton of discussion — there are those who think her head sculpt is awful while others love it, but think that the hair is positioned all wrong. Personally, I think the sculpt is fine. The sizing might be a tad on the large size, and the hair does need some repositioning. And it definitely needs a Robokillah paint job.

The figure has clean paint apps, granted it’s mostly factory-produced plastic coloring and not a lot of paint work, but where there is paint, it’s sharp. Viper comes with the same accessories as Madame Masque: some guns and belt and a piece of Zola.

She’s great to pose with the Hydra Goons from the Brood Queen Series. With their goofy looks combined with hers, they kinda make a case for a Steranko/Kirby display of sorts. Maybe throw in your Marvel Legends Series 5 Nick Fury to bring the room together.
