Ask Matty – 8/15/9

mattel_logoToy Guru and Matty are back after a short convention hiatus. Here are the answers to some of the questions that came out of the showings at the 2009 San Diego Comic Con. Hopefully it will whet your appetite while you wait for your wallet to be drained by DCUC 9, 10 and the 5-pack. Take it away, boys!

1. Were the DCUC series 9 figures (both carded and loose) that were on display at SDCC production figures? Is the dark wash on Black Canary’s hair a final paint app?

Yes.

2. The Kilowog and Brimstone C&C figures looked to have different hips from the standard DCUC scheme, can you tell us what function and range of motion they will have?

It is a new sculpt but the motion is the same. Both figures share a few parts however!

3. Will the 6 inch Ghostbusters Classics Ray Stantz figure come with the ever-so-important Ecto-goggles?

No, but the 12″ version does. Adding the goggles to a 6″ Ray would be a great way to refresh him for a Hotel Sedwick Ray sometime in the future.

4. Will the DCUC series 11 Green Lantern figures (including Kilowog) and Sinestro Corps 2-pack figures come with their lanterns?

No, but they will come with constructs.

5. If the new Superman/Batman Public Enemies 6 inch series is successful at Target do you plan on going beyond just one series?

We’d love to continue it if it does well.

6. Will the MOTUC Teela figure’s outfit still allow for movement in the figure? The white part looks like it is all one piece with no signs of a waist swivel or ab crunch. Will the figure still retain this functioning articulation?

The sculpt does not allow for mid waist articulation. This was a design choice made by the Horsemen for the females.

7. Some online retailers have revealed the DCUC 11 Steppenwolf will come with a “Super Powers” base. Can you shed some light on that? Pics?

It will be a standard DCU base with the words “Super Powers” printed on it!

8. Can you give us an approximate MSRP for the World’s Greatest Superheroes line?

Green Arrow will be on MattyCollector.com for Xmas. The first retail wave will hit in late Spring 2010.

9. Okay, so obviously most of us will never ever own a 30″ Anti-Monitor, but is a larger scale (maybe not 30″ but big) version a possibility for the DCUC line? It seems like he should be bigger than the standard C&C figure, were the top brass at Mattel impressed enough by the raffle to let big figures get done? We NEED a big Anti-Monitor!

If we did the Anti-Monitor in DCUC he would be no more than 10 inches tall. That is the limit we can get on these figures. If there is enough fan demand we’d love to do this.

10. Okay, you guys showed a TON of awesome figures at SDCC, but with all of the DC lines shown, we did not get ONE Granny Goodness figure! Where Granny at?

Granny is just one of thousands of DC characters not done yet.

11. Back at NYCC you hinted that we should be getting at least one “civilian” (or non-superhero) figure in DCUC this year. Nothing was shown at SDCC, are there still plans for this?

We did have plans for a civilian character but the retailers backed out on this. We’ll try to rework it for 2010, possibly on MattyCollector.com.

Thanks guys!
