Hasbro: Marvel Legends SP//dr Series Scarlet Spider and House of M Spider-Man

Continuing the recent onslaught of Hasbro Marvel Legends SP//dr Series reviews we are offering a twofer, Scarlet Spider and House of M Spider-Man. Scarlet Spider is the Kaine version and rerelease of the character on a new buck. The last time we saw House of M Spidey was a Toy Biz Spider-Man Classics wave. I think.

I’ll jump on Scarlet Spider first, Benty reviewed the original release many moons ago, you can read about it here. At the time Scarlet Spider was just getting some good visibility in Marvel Comics and his own series was great. I loved the spin-off off and it was fun to read about another Spider-Man that wasn’t Peter Parker. This version of Scarlet Spider is the messed up clone, Kaine.

Kaine’s been around since the mid-’90s and has become a steady staple in the Spiderverse. Originally one of the Jackal’s early attempts at cloning Peter Parker, Kaine was a bit messed up physically and mentally. This led him to come into conflict with Parker and Ben Reilly. A lot. Lately in the comics Kaine has learned to deal with his instabilities, and is messing with gone evil Ben Reilly Scarlet Spider. Yeah they both are going around as the Scarlet Spider, lots of words could explain it.

I’m writing quite a bit about Kaine, because we’ve pretty much covered this base figure to death. There is a Kaine specific head, Kaine hands with the spikes, and Scarlet Spider head. All these accessories are new sculpts and look great. I really love this choice of buck for Kaine, it’s a good buck and really makes the figure pop.

Peter Parker House of M appeared during the whole House of M crisis when Scarlet Witch said “no more mutants” and the world went topsy turvy. Parker becomes everything that he always wanted, rich, famous, successful, publicly known as Spider-Man. It was a great story line, a divergence from the Parker always being down on his luck. Parker got a new Spider costume to go with his new life.

There’s nothing new with this action figure, it’s Pizza Spidey, but the version with the fixed hips and not the spread eagle hips version. This is a provenly good figure, and a good choice. I think all the Parker versions come on this sculpt, keeping it consistent. He only comes with a shot of web, no extra hands.

Besides Doc Oc, Scarlet Spider is my favorite of the series. It’s a great figure, character and a ton of fun to play with. I’d definitely recommend this figure for anyone collecting Spider-clones or Spider-verse figures. You can pick this series up at:
