Hasbro: Black Series Jedi-Master Luke Skywalker (Ach-To Island)

Hasbro is taking an interesting approach with figure exclusives to support The Last Jedi. They are re-releasing wave one figures with some soft goods capes and robes, die-cast parts, and small diorama pieces. Today we are taking a look at the Target exclusive Luke Skywalker.

This set comes packaged in a window box with an opening flap that’s sealed with velcro. The box features a very nice illustration on the outside and some figure photos on the inside and back. The inside window shows off the figure well.

You get Luke, two hands, an Ach-To (the planet at the end of The Force Awakens)-themed base, and a soft-goods robe.

One hand is a grip hand with a swivel/hinge joint and the other hand is a fist cast in die-cast metal with a swivel joint. The grip hand is the same as the one that came with the wave one TLJ Luke and is cast in some soft plastic that makes gripping a bit of an issue. The fist is kinda neat, though seems a little small.

The base is case in gray plastic and has some paint to indicate moss growing up through the rocky steps. I think a black wash would have been nice on this piece. I do like that there are a couple of pegs that will help keep Rey and Luke stable on the shelf.

The sculpt is the same as the wave one figure for the most part except the skirt is now a fabric piece and there is a plastic piece that includes the belt and the white strips that go over the shoulders. The plastic is really soft, so it allows for good leg movement.

The paint job on the eyes (right below) is a slight improvement over the wave one figure, though it’s not the face print technology.  The hair color doesn’t quite capture Hamill’s hair which still has a bit of brown in it.

The hair does impede articulation a bit as Luke can’t look up well. The articulation is as follows:

  • Swivel/hinged neck, shoulders, hips, elbows, wrists, and ankles
  • Double-hinged knees
  • Swivel hips
  • Ball-and-socket waist

I do find that the outer robe hangs better on the figure than the wave one robe.

Overall I like this figure, though I really don’t need two. I like the soft goods and the base looks nice on the shelf, so I’m glad I got it. I do have an idea to customize the extra Luke I have so it’s not a total loss. He does not come with a Lightsaber, though he has a hook for the hilt so you can add your old Jedi Luke saber if you want.
