Diamond Select: Marvel Select Lady Deadpool Video and Quick Pics

This release wasn’t even on my radar. Sure, she’s a lady. She’s a Deadpool. But I figured it would be large (not that there’s anything wrong with that, Select collectors, simmer down) for my collection. Then pictures started trickling in and I knew I needed the Marvel Select Lady Deadpool.

First, can we call Marvel Select collectors “Selectors”? Is that too out there? Or does it sound too much like a Masters of the Universe character who chooses things, like teams for the Endor picnic and which weapons should be used in an upcoming battle? Selector, Mighty Master of Decision.

Second, this figure actually got me up and out to the one, yes one, comic shop I have within one hundred miles after not stepping foot in it for years. Years. It’s more gamer-centric (not that there’s anything wrong with that, gamers, simmer down) and doesn’t carry much in the way of toys. Or comics. I had ordered it on Amazon after deciding I wanted it but that was too slow. I needed to touch plastic immediately. A call confirmed that they had indeed received one. One.

Totally worth the drive.

I have no attachment to Lady Deadpool, being as far behind on comics as I am. But it’s an awesome design. Well, it’s Deadpool’s design enhanced by a ponytail and more curves. But really, I’m not sure what it is but the ponytail adds so much to it. Makes it more dynamic. Adds a sense of motion. And the figure nails it.

Beware stuck joints though. It took a lot of heat to free up some of the articulation. And this toy has articulation in spades. Double elbows on a female figure? Unheard of! Even the ponytail is on a ball joint. The only joints I was unable to free were most of the wrists but that looks more like plastic deformation than simple paint lock.

Best of all, she straddles the line between 6-inch and 7-inch scales. She works as a short Marvel Select or a tall Marvel Legend. The more industrious among us will probably take a little out of the leg or foot and bring her down in height a bit, but I’m perfectly happy with the way she is out of the package. Yes, yes, I know she’s not meant to fit in with the smaller scale, that’s just something us Legends collectors have to accept.

Not that there’s anything wrong with that, Legends collectors, simmer down.

This is how you do an action figure, Diamond. Sure, sticky joints can be a downer, but after some work we get an awesome sculpt, fantastic articulation, and an amazing shelf presence.

And Headpool. He’s awesome too.
