Hasbro: X-Men Legends Rogue

Rogue_01Rogue is a mainstay of the Uncanny X-Men, and a figure of Rogue in her Jim Lee-designed costume is oft-requested on the Fwoosh forums. As an ’80s kid, I’m more partial to her weird, black leotard punk rock/jazzercise-style costume, but I cannot deny that this version of Rogue desperately needed a redo for fans of the Jim Lee/X-Men cartoon era. Let’s take a look!

Rogue_02Accessories

Rogue comes with a spare hand in flesh tone that allows for a depiction of her power-absorption abilities. It swaps with the gloved fist nicely and the glove cuffs can come off as well.

Rogue_06I’m used to her kissing folks in order to use this power, but thinking about it now, it’s really weird that she was always kissing on folks, so I’m glad to have the extra hand.

Rogue_03Sculpt

This figure captures the Jim Lee-era Rogue pretty much perfectly from the big hair to the wrinkly leather jacket, it’s all there and it all works. I find that I love these ’90s costumes a lot more in figure form than I do in the books themselves.

Rogue_04I like how smart Hasbro has been in creating the correct costume details by adding on little pieces like the glove cuff and the boot cuffs.

Rogue_05The cuffs are loose, which I would normally find annoying, but allows for them to flow around the articulation to where you need them.

Rogue_07Paint

The paint is nice. The yellow is nice and clear and the green has a great metallic sheen. The face paint is very pretty and extremely nice for Hasbro. I think it would have been nice to have a little dry brush on the jacket to complete the leather effect.

Rogue_08Articulation

Rogue has the standard modern ML articulation with:

  • Ball/socket neck and mid-torso
  • Swivel/hinge shoulder, elbow, hips, wrists, and ankles
  • Double-hinged knees
  • Swivel thighs

Rogue_09Rogue moves pretty well and hits lots of punching and flying poses like you want her to.

Rogue_10Overall

This Rogue is an almost perfect translation of art to figure wrapped up in a solidly articulated, great-looking figure.
