I am going to play the odds here and assume that you picked up your Blu-ray copy of Star Wars: The Force Awakens earlier this week. So, if you have already watched it, and probably even multiple times, I am positive that you once again have Star Wars on the brain if, by chance, there was ever a period of time when you did not. To help with your reinvigorated Star Wars excitement, Hasbro is releasing a new action figure set, the Encounter on Takodana, and heading up a fun campaign to bring us something we all need: more pictures of Star Wars toys!

That’s right between 4/4/2016 (the Blu-ray release date) and 5/4/2016 (unofficial-should-be-official holiday for Star Wars), a social media campaign called #HasbroToyPic Fan Figure Photo Series will be taking place, and really, the subject could not be any better: taking pictures of Star Wars toys! Yep, until May the Fourth, you are encouraged to take to your favorite social media platform and post pictures of your Hasbro Star Wars toys using the hashtag #HasbroToyPic. From the release:

. . . all photos posted to social using #StarWars and #HasbroToyPic will be considered for inclusion in a Star Wars: The Force Awakens Figure Photo Timeline in the Hasbro booth at San Diego Comic Con. Credit will be given to all creators wishing the Timeline display.

So that is pretty fun and really easy, right? Take cool pictures of your Hasbro Star Wars toys, post them, and then you might see your work and name in lights at SDCC. So get snappin’ and show your stuff, all for the love of Star Wars! Be sure to tag us on social media as well — we will retweet and share to help spread the word!

Now, one of the pieces that will be a focus of ours during the campaign is the new “Takodana Encounter” set. This will be hitting store shelves soon, and you get Rey, Finn, and BB-8, plus, for the first time ever in plastic, Maz Kanata. The mysterious but lovable proprietor of a 1,000-year-old watering hole, Maz was a mentor to Han Solo, an “admirer” of Chewbacca, and her piercing gaze saw something in Rey that Rey did not realize herself. Maz’s time during TFA was a bit limited, but I am positive we have not seen the last of her, so I look forward to the chance to meet up with her again during Episode VIII.

As of now, Maz is exclusive to this set, but if you have not taken the plunge into the 3.75-inch basic line, this is a great set to do so because you get Rey, Finn, and BB-8 too, so your main character lineup can get a quick shot in the arm. My 4-year-old daughter barely let me get these studio pictures completed before she ran off with the figures, so as I take the camera outside in the coming days, I am positive her influence will be all over our #HasbroToyPic entries.

So, fellow collectors and Star Wars fans, go forth and make Star Wars picture awesomeness. The Hasbro booth is always one of the highlights of SDCC for me, but this year will certainly be more exciting than ever. Don’t forget to tag us on social media and we will retweet and share to help get your entries out there. We want to see what you have got!
