It’s rare that I think about favorite figures of the year in July, but that’s what happened to me this year at SDCC. We happened upon a retailer with early cases of the latest Marvel Legends wave and without hesitation I plunked down the inflated con dealer price for my figure of the year, Hasbro’s Marvel Legends Nightcrawler.
Action figure collecting for me has a lot to do with the love of the character and Nightcrawler has always been one of my favorite comic book characters. I’m always on the lookout for a definitive version of my favorites and Hasbro nailed it here. Kurt is in his classic costume, has an unprecedented three perfect portraits, and solid, functional articulation that allows me to get in all the crouchy/jumpy/sword-fighty poses I could want . Long have I wanted an Alan Davis style Nightcrawler and this one fit the bill perfectly. Within minutes of opening the figure I said it was my favorite of the year so far and nothing has topped it.
