Jazwares: Fortnite Valkyrie

New Fortnite figures have been hitting Target stores in the last week or so. I picked up a couple including the missing figure from wave 2, Valkyrie. Let’s take a look!

Valkyrie comes in a slick white box with a huge window and some character art around the box. The figure comes with a machine gun, a pistol, an axe, wings, a piece of cake, and three swappable face plates.

The cake has a slot under the plate so the figure’s fingers fit in there and hold the thing. I’m sure this item has significance for players of the game, but it’s not innately interesting to me.

The axe is cool and I like the Celtic design details on the blade. The only problem with it is the handle is a bit too thick for the hands and Val can’t grip it very tightly. Makes for fiddly posing.

The guns look familiar and have good detail, solid plastic, and metallic paint. The are also a little large for Val’s hands, but fit more solidly in the hands.

The wings are one solid translucent blue piece and plug into the back peg like all the backpacks in this line. There is a bit of white on the bat wing bones and overall have an icy look to them.

The face plates have three different expressions, my favorite being the smirking face. The other two feel a little similar too eachother. I really like how the eyes are done with a slight glow effect to them and the eye markings have a very “Jem and the Holograms” feel to them.

The face plates aren’t very tight on this figure and pop off more frequently than other Fortnite figures I’ve bought.

Sculpting on this figure is lovely. The armor detail is really nice and has a lot of sharp pieces, especially on the arms. The design feels a little like Wonder Woman meets Frosta and I dig it.

She doesn’t quite fit in with other lines I have, but looks cool on her own. The articulation is very good with:

  • Swivel/hinge shoulders, head, hips, wrists, and ankles
  • Double hinged knees and elbows
  • Swivel thighs and biceps
  • Ball and socket mid-torso

The figures moves really well and the skirt doesn’t hinder movement too badly, though the hair does limit head movement a bit.

The paint is also pretty good for this type of figure. I like the drybrushing on the hair and armor and the metallics are satisfyingly shiny. There are a couple details on the arms that could have been painted for a more detailed look. I do think the blue hair doesn’t quite match up with the hair color on the artwork, however.

Overall this is another super fun Fortnite figure. I don’t play the game at all, but these are fun toys and good super-articulated figures.
