Mezco: One:12 Collective Marvel Logan Review

More Logan?” The internet asked.

“Hell yeah!” said Mezco. And Disthunder agreed.

I’m not much of the mind to refuse this line any of it’s indulgences, it’s true. But when it comes to Batman, Spidermen, and little hairy men with claws, it’s hard to say where Mezco’s indulgence ends and mine begins.

Take this Logan, for example. Fundamentally, if you own Ronin Logan and/or Old Man Logan, you own this figure. The base body is a carry-over, down to the cowboy boots. Most accessories are as well; the obvious hands, belt, and even a head come from those figures. So, if you were of the persuasion, you could call this “Malibu Logan,” new hat and all.

But check out that damn hat.

So what are you getting, unique to this release? Well, the outfit is all new. He’s depicted in his classic “A”-shirt, and blue jeans. Instead of the duster, Logan sports a new bomber jacket, which is just as awesome as its predecessor. There are also an etched dog-tag that you can easily miss, but is a great addition. And you pick up two new headsculpts, one that includes dat hat. The other is a deceptively brilliant eye-patch wearing “Patch” head. As a disguise, I always thought this was stupid. As a visual though, it’s badass.

As a Logan variant, this is a no-brainer. The parts were mostly all there, and they work very well on the other two versons, so really, why not go for three? Logan is always a strong showing. And while he may not readily be the most accessorised, or push any envelopes, he always delivers in this line. Old Man Logan was our first foray, and his use of unique parts and an incredible headsculpt made him a must-have. Ronin has such perfect clothing and strikes such a distinctive visual, that he too, is here to stay. But this Logan is almost just pre-requisite. You need a street clothes Logan, to cruise the seedy bars, pick fights at pool tables, and post up outside, keeping an eye on his bike. Unique for a costumed comic character, Logan is almost as well known for his day-off look as he is for his union suit. And so, like you need a Tiger Stripe, a classic brown, and an Astonishing (Please Mez!), you need his non-regs.

So, maybe you’d be fooled into thinking this is a light release, if you just looked at the contents and weighed the “new” parts. But those “old” parts are very solid, with good articulation and great detaling, especially his arms. The range of motion is better actually than his fully costumed variants as well- more info on that can be found on my other Logan reviews no doubt listed in the suggestions below.

But, if we need to qualify this one for a purchase, I suppose we should keep it fair- you may not need this figure if you own one or both of the previous ones, because you can essentially piece together a “street Logan” of your own with a head from Ronin on the Old Man body. But I’d wager if you own them both, you won’t be too averse to a third. And to that end, if you haven’t picked up a version yet, then this is an easy purchase.

If anything, this just further encourages me to want more Logans. Age of Apocalypse, Team X, Weapon X, Astonishing, Fang, Albert… but for now, thanks to Mezco for helping me get at least one more.
