Four Horsemen Studios: Mythic Legions Advent of Decay Queen Urkzaa

I’ve still got a few more Mythic Legions Royals to open before I make my way through my “entirely too massive, but not quite every figure I wanted” Advent of Decay order. Today I opened the Matriarch of the Orcs, Queen Urkzaa. Let’s take a look!

Urkzaa comes on the collector friendly packaging and her bio sheds a little light on a possible rift forming between Orcs loyal to Queen Urkzaa and those loyal to General Urzokk and Gorgo Aethyrblade.

Urkzaa comes with a spear, two swords, a weapons holding strap and three wing connector pieces. The spear is the standard Mythic Legions spear that came with many figures including the Orc. It’s common, but has some nice weathering paint effects

The two swords are from the first two Mythic Legions weapons packs. The one feels like it is completely carved from a single bone. Sort of a medieval fantasy shiv, really. I wonder how it would stand up to a metal weapon…

Anyway, it looks cool and has tons of skeletal details that are nicely highlighted with a dirty paint wash.

The other sword is a sort of a orc-ish scimitar with horns for handle and guards. It’s also well painted with a shining gold center, dull metal blade and a wash of the horn handle.

The strap can be worn over the shoulders or around the waist. I think with Urkzaa it looks a little better around the waist.

The scimitar is a little tricky to get into the sword hoop on the belt, so I put the bone sword in there instead.

The wing attachment pieces work well with Urkzaa, though her hair can get in the way at times.

I do like the way she looks with the black wings. It’s got an interesting almost harpy feel to it.

Urkzaa doesn’t come with any armor shoulder pads, so her overall accessory package feels a little light. I would have liked it if she came with a knife or dagger.

Urkzaa’s sculpt is good. She shares quite a few parts with the Orc Soldier Legion builders from Advent of Decay, but has unique bare feet, upper torso and head.

I like the look of the metal bikini top a little more than the Legion Builder orc’s more sports bra looking upper body armor. The advisability of leaving your stomach unarmored aside, Urkzaa has a shapely, muscular figure. I do feel a bit sorry for these orcs who wear this super sharp armor right up against their bare skin. They must have endless cuts and bruises. At any rate, the toy armor is also a little sharp, so sharp it will actually put lines in the figure’s legs.

The head sculpt has a really interesting crown/headress that looks to be made from an Ogre’s skull.

There’s a bit of paint slop on my figure around the teeth which confuses the look of the teeth a little bit. The paint is a little sloppy at the hair line and around the eye on my figure, but the green skin has a nice shading and the armor a nice black wash.

Urkzaa is a nice figure, but feels like she’s missing a little something extra. Like she needs a special staff or ornate weapon or maybe more exaggerated orc features to make her stand out more from the orc legion builder.
