It’s been teased, it’s been revealed, and now we finally get official solicitation pics and info for the S.H. Figuarts Severus Snape from Harry Potter!
Admittedly, the franchise isn’t the most action figure friendly property out there, at least not visually. Humans in robes. And don’t take that as a gripe against the line or the characters, it’s just there isn’t flashy colors or superhuman physiques. On the other hand, the opportunity for accessories is vast, but even that falls a little short with Snape. Like, waaaaay short, especially compared to Harry, Ron, and Hermione.
Severus comes with an extra face and a wand, along with the usual hands. That’s it. The kids probably get a lot of extras because of their smaller size.
Saying all that, I do like the series and Snape especially so I’m gravitating towards a buy here. Yes, I’ve heard the “old Kylo Ren” comments and I can look and laugh along, but I really do like it. They didn’t puff his chest or try to enhance anything to make it more “action.” It’s just Alan Rickman in plastic form.
Snape goes up for general pre-order on January 9th with a release date of May. It should cost about $55.
