Star Wars Celebration 2017: Hasbro Day 0

I had a chance to browse around the Hasbro booth at Star Wars Celebration 2017 this afternoon and while a lot of it is things we’ve seen, seeing them in person is completely different. And then there are the new things…

Most everyone saw the announcements and promotional pictures so these aren’t a surprise but being able to to read about them and then go directly across the convention hall to see them is pretty sweet. First up there was yesterday’s Rey speeder reveal. And the folk at Hasbro has her posed up nicely.

I like the addition of the opening panel. I figure that thing needs a lot of work. And then the Rey figure itself is an upgrade with all of the extras like the mask, soft goods, and double knees.

Then today, following the same ship type and even color Luke’s Landspeeder was revealed.

It seems just a little small, Luke takes up quite a bit of room in it. But again, the Luke figure is an upgrade with the poncho, floppy hat, and long gun.

I also got to see the 1/12 scale statues through the glass and they look okay. I do like the Vader and I guess the Luke is dynamic enough to consider. They do seem to go great with the standard Black Series and the bases add a little something. I’m on the fence.

The rest of the booth was littered with previously revealed figures like Lando, Qui-Gon, Royal Guard, and Tusken. We saw those at last year’s SDCC so those have had time to simmer even though they aren’t out yet. But seeing the Jawa and Death Squad Commander that were revealed at Toy Fair in person was exciting. I need them! Now! And I swore I wouldn’t fall into the 40th Anniversary vintage carded craze but that Stormtrooper looks so delicious on card it’s going to be hard to pass up.

But where did Hera go?

Finally, here’s the Hasbro Store and the Celebration exclusive 40th Anniversary X-wing Pilot Luke.

Since it’s set-up day and the convention hasn’t officially started here wasn’t anyone around to ask questions so I didn’t get to ask where the Lando wave is in the grand scheme of distribution or what happened to Hera but I’m sure there will be time at some point in the next four days. And there are still empty cases for other reveals throughout the show.

But as a first time Celebration goer I have to say, I have never seen so much Star Wars stuff all in one place in my life. It’s insane, something to look at all over, and the show hasn’t even begun. It’s going to be an interesting show.
