Hasbro: X-Men Legends Build-A-Figure Warlock

The X-Men Legends Build-A-Figure Warlock is just another example of a good action figure in which I didn’t have much interest making me fiend for a bunch of other action figures that weren’t on my list. Hasbro, kindly remove the grip from my nethers.

I never wanted a New Mutants team. It’s not because I’m oblivious to who they are; I remember reading them back in the day. But there is so much other stuff that ranks higher that I never gave it much thought. But then along comes Warlock, all techy and pretty and awesome. Seriously, this thing both amuses me to no end while probably giving me nightmares at some point.

Just look at it. You can get lost in all the details, not to even mention how great the goldish patina is at adding even more dimension to all of that sculpt. I feel like I’m going to lose my mind if I stare at it too long. Especially when it comes to the face. Quit gazing at my soul, Warlock.

That’s not to say it doesn’t have it problems, though. Because of the paint, awesome as it is, some of the joints were stuck. Not to the point of needing heat or cold, but snapping them loose did make them … loose. Which, now that I typed it out, perhaps I should have taken precautions. But because of the engineering and the weighting of the limbs and the lower legs, it’s not much of a problem to stand even with loose knees.

My other problem are the hoses coming out of the arms. They are supposed to plug into the back, but they don’t stay worth a damn, falling out with the slightest movement. And I hear you say “The sweet song of superglue will fix that right up.” To that I say nay, the hoses are short and hinder the movement of the arms. One option was to just cut the hose off, but I liked the added detail, so I went another route, drilling a hole in the upper arm and gluing them there. They stay out of the way while adding some oomph to the silhouette. Problem solved.

Amazing piece. Now I want some technovirus bits that can be stuck or wrapped on other figures. Hmm.
